The rare times Melitonin actualy made me tired, it would only last for a short while...like a few minnutes. Than I would get "wired up" again. When I was able to catch it and fall alseep, I would always wake up an hour later. Melitonin never worked for me.

I take sleeping pills and melatonin. Occasionally I take an ativan, too. With those medicine I manage to get about 7 hours at night, usually with wild dreams, and waking up once or twice. That's the best I could get it seems. I exercise regularly and eat a healthy balanced diet. Physically there's nothing wrong with me, all my bloodwork are well within normal range and I'm at my ideal weight. I just can't sleep well.

I found that not expecting a good sleep help reducing the anxiety. Also having a generally low stress lifestyle is good. If you don't have to be somewhere at certain times doing something really important, then it doesn't matter if you don't sleep well, then you probably tend to sleep better. I always sleep better when there's nothing planned for the next day.

I don't have this problem, since I get to sleep easily practically every night. Sometimes I go through phases where it takes me a couple of hours to drop off, but that's not too usual for me.

But it might be because I love bedtimes. Whilst most anxious people lie awake worrying when in bed, it's actually the opposite for me. As soon as I switch off the light, my mind actually stops thinking! Probably because I imagine my crush in bed with me. Hopefully he will be in bed with me for real one day....

thanks for the replies. :3 now i have one question that i should ask... half of the time at least, i somehow wake up at around 4:00 - 5:00... the tiredness gets suddenly taken away from my eyes and i suddenly feel uncomfortable on my bed, like the bed is like a rock. and it takes me around 1 to 2 hours to fall back asleep. Is there some scientific name for this condition ora more particular cure for that sort of sleeplessness? O__o

I'm not sure, I have the exact opposite problem. Getting myself out of bed is one of the most difficult parts of my day. It's just so comfortable, and I like being lazy.

I always had trouble sleeping! As I got toward middle age it got worse. And now that I am (hope-fully) waiting for my wife to come back, I haven't slept enough for at least two weeks that my health is getting shaky!
Any kind of upsets really hurt and bother me, but experiences like what I've gone through lately are nearly killing me.... :(

I am also an insomniac. The most sleep I've gotten recently was 7 hours, and that was with two sleeping pills, a cup of warm tea, and 30 minutes of running on the track.

I think this is related, although not strictly insomnia. I have great troubles with going to sleep. It takes me 30 minutes on a very good day, to 4 hours on a bad one to go to sleep, no matter how tired I am. Only on camp do I seem to be able to sleep quickly.

Besides this I seem to have an inbuilt alarmclock. i f I know I have to get up at a certain time, I do not have to turn on my alarm, my head does it for me. It only works if I really have to get up though.
