I don't think it's bad to want to look +- good, if it has a good enough payback. Think of it as a way of condescending to NTs.

I don't really talk about my interests with others, partly, I think, because of the way others have reacted in the past. I might talk about my more "normal" interests (like baseball or Harry Potter) a little if they happen to come up in conversation or the other person shares my interest, but even then I don't really convey the full depth of my interest or how much time I spend on it. I don't talk about my more unusual interests at all to anyone.
