Aspergia Refugee Camp
Nope, not me
I'm actually from the US, but have been living in the Netherlands since 2002.

I'm not sure what you mean. There are always going to be people who can't get along or are abrasive (I can be that) or are trolls, and I do see that here to a small extent. We had some big egos and big opinions at Aspergia, and sure there were clashes. We had attention-seekers and people who seemed angling for high drama. The mellower, more level-headed and grounded members balanced that out. But there were other specific and far more troubling problems at Aspergia relating to specific individuals who probably had no business being there in the first place, and that fortunately I have not seen here so far.
I think this site may be better equipped to deal with certain problems than Aspergia in a few ways too. Aspergia wasn't intended to handle a huge number of members. It didn't try to be elitist (although there were members who might have been), but it did try to be an AS-only club of sorts. Unfortunately that probably made it attractive to more destructive types who just wanted the thrill of crashing the party. And crash it they did.

OK, I do remember someone there who was US-born and lived in the netherlands. I believe I remember somone with "grayson" as part of their username - was that you? It's been awhile, so it's very likely I'm mixing memories of people together.
All I can recall about that other person who asked about publishing - she said she had so scientific research/writing and wanted to know if anyoen there could help her get it published. Or I think that is what is was about.
Unfortunately I came in right before to the huge influx of new member. I got to seen the place seemingly change over night, which drove several older members away. I remember several of those older members, especially the ones the stuck it out til the end, but many who came nearer to the time I bailed I have less vivid memories of.
That's me! I was "graysonmj" over there (or maybe it was "graysonm", I don't remember).
I remember you being one of the people I enjoyed reading. Kota was another one. And BeautifulDreamer. I haven't seen them here, or at least I haven't seen those usernames here. (I know there were several more people I enjoyed at Aspergia, but I can't remember the usernames right now; hope no one reading gets bummed that I didn't list them when they might well have been one of my "resonances" there

I read your post int he parent thread and it jogged my memory. I remember now about you talking about your children at Aspergia.
I remember Kota and BeautifulDreamer. I liked them too. I've seen LonerMutant here, and I'm glad he's here. It kinds makes this place seem more familiar to me. Essentially, if anyone (aside from the narcissistic troublemakers) from Aspergia are here, I'm glad. I think Noetic has been here, but I don't think she's been here for awhile. I always really liked her as well.
I liked the diversity at Aspergia, and I think this place has that too. It's just this forum's a lot bigger and it's harder to get to know people here. I have a hard time remembering usernames in association with what they post - I can remember people's usernames by themselves and recall posts in detail. But it takes time for me to connect the dots, so to speak. If I can remember people from another forum, it actually helps out a lot.
