I not only go out alone but prefer it. I also travel all over the world alone as a woman which freaks all my friends out. I don't like to be with people too much when I travel. I just keep mouth shut out there and stay out of really crowded places best I can. Has worked for me for 40 plus years. :)

What I have realized is that a lot of times it is just best to keep your mouth shut.

I used to be afraid of going places on my own, now not so much, because it's either go out on my own or stay in all the time.

I kind of like being out alone, but I also feel uncomfortable when I am, because I feel quite self-conscious. Sometimes I like a bit of company and sometimes I don't.

I have no trouble being out by myself.

Used to be terrified of going anywhere alone, mostly a side effect of much bullying in school (I would hide in the SEN room or library and went everywhere with a support worker/parent , so never got used to people). Now I have mostly got over this fear, the following blog post describes how (to save duplicating it here):

My little brother at 14 doesn't like going to places alone. If we're going grocery shopping someone has to accompany him. For him I think it's cause he's 14 and he's still being bullied a lot. So he gets weird. He feels so awkward.

That and he doesn't like the bright lights and all the sounds and we're familiar. It's kind of ret*d, but at the same time he'll grow out of it I hope.

I love traveling alone! It definitely freaks my family/friends out, but I'm not sure why. :-)
