What's strange about this is that I participated in a study at Boston university for people with AS, OCD, and/or other psychiatric diagnosises. I got paid for it.

I also participated in a brain study at MIT, which I got paid for.

So I've been gleefully telling everyone that I am a Labrat of 2011.

Have you been able to find the threads they used for the research?

It says in the study that they analyzed threads about religion that appeared in the Politics, Philosophy and Religion sub-forum here from March 2008- Feb 2009. For NTs they analyzed threads about religion from the same time frame from a forum called golivewire.com

Good lord. They looked at the PPR forums? That's like picking up rocks and finding bugs crawling around.

Why have you removed the link to the study? I've read most of it last night, I got the impression the study didn't treat us unfairly. However, I don't know if it's legal to collect bits of anonymous personal data form public internet forums without consent.

I think it was a seriously flawed idea, it's only the most extremely opinionated who ever go there. (yes me too, on occasion)

I remember feeling like I was living my life under a microscope as a kid. Everything I did, every move I made was monitered or recorded.

I got paid for being a lab rat in the eighties, an allergy doctor developing tests for specific allergies. I made several hundred dollars, plus some free appointments with the doctor for both me and my daughter, which were probably worth several hundred more, but the hassle it was to me, I earned the money, blood pricks and scratches, time in the office for the study's benefit, not mine, going weeks without eating _anything_ of the particular substance studied at the time (did you know that some corn product is or can be in almost everything people eat without paying attention? I almost starved in that period!) (and gasoline to and from the office, 32 miles per round trip)

Not to thread jack, but if you get the chance sometime you should watch The Informant with Matt Damon. That's basically what that movie is about.
