Hey, thanks to everybody that replied to this!

I would look and see if it says you have Aspergers, or "Asperger-like Symptoms". The difference is mild and mostly relates to the ADA. Either can help in school, as the public schools and colleges have to make accomodations for any "disability", but if you need help doing other things, or will need certain ammodations in employment then you'll need the "Aspergers" diagnosis along with a full report detailing any special considerations and requirements for your condition.

Nah, it says Asperger's. Well, "Asperger's Disorder," technically, but I think that's just semantics.

LOL! I was DX'd in about 5 min during "grief therapy". I did not even ask for it.
Of course since then I have had several "confirms" of this DX.

There is no GOLD "standard" for an ASD DX. That said, the Doctors at OHSU around Portland want to see an ADOS sort of assesment before they accept a child for research programs. So they are setting that as the "Gold Standard" around Portland. It costs around 1400 dollars to do and involves a series of assesment tests like IQ, etc. It is useless to do that unless you have a program you want to participate in that will not take your current DX.

In other words... you have a perfectly valid DX. Most of the people who have trouble with DX do not display it like I do and/or are seeing doctors who do not know how to DX it or have no real knowledge of ASD.

Alright, I am going to take your word for this! Doing an in-depth testing like that would be interesting and it would eliminate any uncertainty, but given the cost I think I can live with the remaining shred of doubt.

My unofficial diagnoses went like this:

Saw a psychologist over 4 months to get help handling social anxiety. I ask her if she can sasses me for AS. She says she will and looks back over her notes, gets my mum in to ask questions and asks me some more questions over an hour during the next appointment.
Decides I have AS.

The official diagnoses:
See psychiatrist for one session. Maybe 20/30 minutes in he says you have AS. How about we put you on disability?

I'm closer to HFA and just say I have autism because my issues are really noticeable, but my assessments for it were not very thorough. The former, unofficial one was more thorough than the official one because over 4 months she got to know me. And charge me.

Yeah see.... Therein lies the real "rub" if you will. There is NO test that could eliminate all doubt. Perhaps a brain scan but even that could be flawed. So you still may not feel 100% after paying the 1K plus for the ADOS and another 1K plus for the brain scan.

End of the day is if it is so obvious that the doctor can see it in that short amount of time... you can be pretty darned sure of it. LOL!

I think your diagnosis is fine. You believe it, and your parents believe it, and the professional believes it enough to write up the shiny new letters, so everything seems hunky-dory to me.
