3 at the very worst. Usually a 1 or 2.

I would say I have three moderate to severe issues I know about....PTSD, Anxiety and Depression on good days all that is moderate on the bad days it's severe. So yeah I was not sure what answer would fit.

I'm 5. Long-term depression before meds, occasional hypomania, possibly moderate AS.

What about epilepsy? I have a mixture of temporal lobe epilepsy and complex partial. The severest is clonic tonic without loss of consciousness.

I chose 5 because I have HFA, PMDD (hormonal depression/ meltdowns), mild agoraphobia, moderate ADHD, and some paranoia. Well, don't know what you'd call a person who freaks out when all doors of the house are open, thinks she hears sounds (not related to hallucinations during seizures) and has to sleep with the lights on to keep an eye on the monsters.

There's some hypoglycemia as well and that can affect mental functioning.

About 5. I have been extremely depressed and am on meds for it, and my Asperger's is by no means mild, no matter how I may seem to fool people on the internet.

I picked 5 because I have major depression, moderate classic autism, and BDD. I actually feel that I should be more than five with the state I am in right now, but none of the other descriptions matched me.

Edit: And now looking back, my 5 probably should actually be a 7, since I probably should be in a hospital right now.

I'm going with five based on descriptions. Could be six sometimes. I have probably been a seven a few times (including a year and a half ago), but I've never actually been hospitalized.

I would add that ADHD is not a mild disorder and is actually found to be more impairing than some of the things you listed as being more severe. Obviously, it's a spectrum disorder, but I mean in general it's going to be more debilitating than depression, anxiety, and suchlike.

Most of us seem to be going with 5, I'm adding myself to that list. I really had no idea which to answer, but 5 seemed the most accurate.

I have been anywhere from 1 to 7, according to the posted scale. Overall functioning levels seem to be very arbitrary for most people on the spectrum...at least due to my observations, anyway.

This misdiagnosis caused me significant stress, which lessened upon finding out the truth about myself from my current and past long-term therapists - that I am an anxious and highly sensitive person but do not have an autism spectrum disorder.

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

#2, very high functioning aspergers- all mild social difficulties as of now. Plus social anxiety and OCD. Im on antipsychotic meds for anxiety.

I've been at #3 or 4 here and there when my mood issues have been worse, and if you throw depression in the mix.

Picked 5, but occasionally would slink into 6 (almost went with it). It is "disabling" enough for me, in a way.

I have a cocktail of issues. Of course there are others that have it worse off than me - I am fortunate at this time to have a roof over my head, a room to stay in, having the opportunity to live in the same house as my son (I'm divorced, living with ex-wife by renting a room), and fortunate enough to have public assistance as finding a job (or keeping one) is rather difficult for me.

    My issues are:

  1. Asperger's (should be Classic Autism, but that doesn't matter after 2013 anyway)
  2. Dysthymia
  3. Schizotypal and Dependent Personality traits (both of them attributed to Asperger's.. I know Schizotypal shouldn't be dx'd with AS)
  4. Deafness (Profound Sensorineural Hearing Loss by congenital perilymphatic fistula)
  5. Severe Executive Functioning issues
    • very low willpower, lack of motivation. Documented even from early childhood.
    • short term memory is pretty much shot, in general. Long term is usually intact, but sometimes mixes places and people up.
    • My personal hygiene is decent - I shower everyday, but brush my teeth every other day or so, groom myself when I need to - and do laundry every two-three weeks (I wear the same clothes for a few days if it's not dirty, until it starts to smell).
  6. Suspected circadian rhythm issues - sleep patterns varies. Maybe having no routine contributes to this but I don't think it's the only cause.
  7. PTSD, didn't realise it until recently - an auto accident in 2000 scarred me for several years - giving me nightmares and elevated anxiety levels and hypervigilance when driving. It was crazy and I didn't know that was attributed to PTSD until now. Have had mild PTSD issues from different situations over the years.

That's pretty much what I can think of right now. I'm sure I forgot some things, but that's ok. You don't need me to write a novel about myself. :D

@Willard, I agree with all of your words about functioning levels and the lens metaphor. Too much is context-dependent.

@OP, Since you introduced meds in 3, only 1 and 2 remained to choose from. I went for 2, although I feel impaired socially very much, and my biggest problem seems to be having no girlfriend/family now, which is totally out of consideration in your scale.

Mental: I (probably) have AS (I'm sure I have autistic traits before anything else), mild ADD/ADHD, some kind of learning difficulty/memory problem, mild issues with short term memory, mild face blindness, moderate Executive Dysfunction, bits of Social Anxiety and Schizotypal Disorder (or something similar). I have only mild issues with anxiety (seems to vary with time) and non with depression.

Physical: Bent spine (mild), deformation of chest (mild, only aesthetic), mild hearing impairment, but considering my general look...

I am aware that I am being nit-picky, and I do totally agree that ADHD can be debilitating for many people--but for SOME people it can probably be quite mild. And I would MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH rather have mild ADHD, than the severe depression I have now. People can also have anxiety that is so bad you cannot leave the house--while my severe ADHD niece, although she DEFINITELY suffers from it, leaves the house often and has a pretty normal life and lots of friends, etc.

I'm a 2 - I'm mildly autistic and have mild PTSD, and I'm functioning pretty well overall. But in the past I've been worse off.
