I usualy get a mixture of all of the above. When I was a litlte kid, I would often gobsmack the zookeepers and the volenteers lecturing you about said animal because I knew so much. I often knew more then them. I haven't been told to stop obsessing ever since I turned eighteen. I always hated it when people told me that. It's like they thought I could just turn off my brain or change the meerkat channel to the "things society wants me to like" channel just like that. My mom was often very accepting of my obsessions. She would tell me she needed a break from hearing about meerkats or whatever for so long becuase she would go crazy. I felt like I was being tourtued when I was allowed to talk about anything but my obsessions. When my mother told me that I couldn't talk about my obsessions, I felt as if my feelings didn't matter to her. My obsessions are the major part of my idenity. I felt as if I was having part of myself ripped away. Obsessions were the only thing that made life bearable. If my parents were those hardcore curbies who take away everything relate to their kid's obsession, I would have commited sucide.
