Ok, I understand that it does sound like ass burgers. Yeah its kinda funny. Believe me I have a sense of humor I can take a joke. But honestly it's not funny after a while. And completely honest I've heard NT's say and spell it just like that not even caring that that;s not the proper spelling.
It was funny once, but now drop it, because AS is a real condition and the last thing we need is more of this nonsense

NTs will never get old of humorous phrases that sound like a given phrase.

Like... This country is an obamanation.

I hate hearing people do this. Especially when they repeat it over and over like it's supremely clever. And so many repeat it over and over.

I know, this whole country full of not-so-clever sounding repetitive NTs is an obamanation. :P

In that case... Everyone in my entire town, including the psychiatrist, has been miss saying it, and as I am dreadful at spelling, I've been misspelling it. How is it actually spelled?

The G is hard, properly pronounced. And I'm not really sick of the "Ass-Burger" jokes, because I just ignore childish humor when it's obviously intended to offend.

The only reason I paid any attention to it this time, is because I could tell it was not meant to offend.

In German it's pronounced asPERRGerrsyndrom and doesn't sound as though it has anything to do with ass or burgers. So we don't have that problem here.

Personally I pronounce it:

ace - per - jers

Unconventional so therefore every typical of an Aspie.

Both my parents pronounce is as "Aus Burgers. So for years I thought it was Aus burgers and then I started to hear As Burgers from my aspie mate and his mother and then Ass Burgers when I hear it on TV or online.

No, I'm not at all bothered when people say ass burgers because that's pretty much how you should pronounce it if you speak english instead of german. The only real difference between the german and english is the accent. There is no J sound in german. There is only a G sound as in the word "good." So it's not "asperjers."

Now, that being said, I DO often get tired of hearing the same s**t over and over again from people, kinda like how when Dave Chapelle's tv show was popular when i was in school, and every five seconds some dickcheese would go "I'm Rick James, b***h!"

Perhaps it would bother me if I heard it enough, but not because it offends me in any way... rather because I'd just get sick of hearing everybody say the same damn thing. I feel that way about certain internet buzzwords/terms that get used all the time... things like "fail" and "pwn(although you don't hear that one too much anymore)." Oh yeah, then there's "uber," which isn't spelled or used right like ever... it's über or ueber. It means over or about, depending on the context. Most of the time it means over, but if you say "was sprichst du über?" It means "what are you talking about?"

I, and everyone I know IRL pronounces it 'ass-per-jers', and almost all of my friends are aspies.

(this may be because I live in the UK. When I hear someone say 'ass-per-gers' they are almost always american)

I hate it being pronounced the wrong way. I think part of it is that I picture the word literally and I am NOT a donkey... I also hate the way the word sounds. Asperger's has a P in it.... and should have an e sound not a u. It is not a burger... it is perger...

I'm also in the UK but don't pronounce it with a 'j'. I have no need to be bothered since I don't find donkey burgers to be particularly awkward.

Why not pronounce it the french way: as-pear-jay or something similar. Though that would mean you'd have to tell everyone " I have the Sprays". Where you'd get interesting comments like "oh yes, IBS is a horrible thing."
