At work, I was sent on a shorthand course. I could never be one of those people who instinctively knows what symbols to use to make a word. So, I just forgot everything I'd learned and went back to writing fast, leaving out unnecessary words. I remember a lot too, so the written notes are just there to keep me on track when I'm typing them up. One of my jobs at work was minute taker at meetings regarding people with mental health problems, requiring a court order, in relation to their welfare. I was actually very good at this and enjoyed it. The meetings involved a lot of chit-chat and could digress quite a bit, but I somehow knew the important bits to write down. We could be in the meeting for 2 hours and my minute was around 2 pages long, any longer would have been too long. The manager always requested me for this, so I must have been doing something right.
