In your opinion, why is an asperger riddled with anxiety?

I have scripted conversations, any interruption or change makes me anxious. For example, i buy a bus ticket and the guy asks me to repeat my request. Fairly normal and easy for the ordinary person, but it interrupts my script and makes me panicked. There's also the worry that on the bus, someone will talk to you, and you will have to engage in conversation. I'm awful in random conversation. I want to come across as respectful, but i always say the wrong things. For example i was talking to an old woman, who insisted in telling me about her recently dead husband. I said 'I'm sure he's in a better place now'. I thought that's what you were meant to say in this situation, but she got really angry and said 'You think he was in a bad place?', I was stunned in silence and just moved away. It's situations like that i am anxious about.

"I'm sure he is in a better place" usually refers to he is in Heaven and not everyone believes in Heaven. I don't believe people go straight to Heaven but that is just me.

I think that woman was just looking for an argument. Usually I just shove in some ear phones and let my music take me away. I do this because of my sensory issues but it also works so people don't talk to you.

I don't know, I know I can never be like most people and so I don't try. I just be my impulsive self, who does at times get in trouble for it but some people like me for it.

When pharmaceutical researchers need some rats to test anti-anxiety drugs on they have to first make the rats anxious. They do that by putting them in a cage in which they are randomly electrically shocked and given no way to escape. That apparently quickly turns them into nervous wrecks, cowering the corners of their cages.

That sounds like when I was in school.

Yeah, same here. I've read that being stuck (powerless to escape) in an awful situation can lead to complex-PTSD. In my case, it probably doesn't rise to the level of actual PTSD, but that dynamic at school still seems to have messed me up in some long-term ways.
