A lot of NTs will find that social media is evil as well.

I agree that Facebook and probably G+ are evil, but I also know (and know of) quite a few autistic people who make use of social networking sites simply because it's easier than managing a lot of face to face interactions. It's not just for NTs.

I'm NT (though at the introvert end of introvert) and wild horses ouldn't drag me onto Facebook, Twitter etc (I don't know what Google+ is). I use email to stay in contact with my admittedly small number of friends and some relatives. And visits and some phonecalls. Small amounts of snail mail. That's it. I value my privacy above many other things.

I understand that digital communication may be helpful to Aspies (perhaps less scary) but I feel it's a bit of a cop out. If it helps, great. If you live a long way from your friends, great. I just don't think it's a substitute for real, face to face contact.

Trappedinhell, I understand you need social media to make money (I don't know what you do/sell). I think you are right, ultimately the companies who run these sites (WP is an exception) want your data. Running the social platform is a sideshow.

From the effect sites like Facebook seem to have on people I do not think they're a good thing at all. Among other things the concept of what it means to be or have a friend is being devalued to the point of near-irrelevance.

Well they can't very well charge you for anything if you don't provide your debit/credit card information....why would a child be able to get ahold of their parents credit/debit card and happily click on things to buy? I don't plan to have kids but if I did I would not be giving them my debit card or my debit card information.

Sure adds and spam mail can be annoying but I usually just try and ignore it.

Sometimes you don't need to. In mobile phones you only have to click and it's added to your phone bill. I'm not sure exactly how it works with Facebook games, but the games are designed to do nothing but separate you with your money. They have a financial incentive to turn people into mindless clicking zombies. In the old days the customer didn't pay anything after buying the game, so the only way to get money was to make exciting games.

Not my mobile phone, its just a pay as you go phone with a basic internet feature I never turn on or use....I imagine there would be some way to block that from your phone but I don't know anything about those smart phones so yeah.

As for the facebook games I play pleanty of them but I have yet to buy anything pertaining to them....lol though some of the games suck if you don't spend actual money on them because they have tasks that are nearly impossible to accomplish unless you have a lot of friends playing or pay for the special coins or whatever. So I usually just stick to Pot Farm because there is never a need to pay for it in order to complete the missions and stuff.

I dont really go to Facebook. Whenever I share things noone replies to them, so I dont do that anymore. I mostly just go to read a few friends stories, "like" a few things, and leave. I think you have to have a certain number of friends and spend a certain amount of time interacting on there, or you wont show up in people's newsfeeds. And I dont really have time for that. So it is not my kind of place really.

Don't really understand how to spend huge amouts of time on facebook. I don't see the point in posting trivial information all the time. My life is really quite boring. I only really use it to keep tabs on other people every once in a while. I check it maybe once I week.

Maybe I'm just cheap but IMHO games that make you pay money to advance are obnoxious scams. It's also not very fun when there's no actual strategy and the only way to win is to solicit others or pay money.

Yeah I know, that is why I stop playing the games like that......if I have to pay for crap to advance to the next level its not worth it. So that is why Pot Farm is one of the few games I actually regularly participate in since you don't have to buy anything and I like cannabis so obvoiusly its a fun game for me.

It's good to know that people still make games because they believe in them.

Being annoying sells. It's a sad truth but it's one that'll always be with us, as that which is annoying is more memorable and attention-catching than that which doesn't catch our attention.

What are you using Facebook to sell?

I didn't even have to read any of the OP's post.

I already agree.

Well I'm not really selling, but I know that if I don't talk to ANYONE then nobody will find my stuff. I make games based on classic novels: http://enterthestory.com/
But I hate selling, so I just concentrating on making the best games I can. When I get it right I am sure that word of mouth will do the rest. I'm making a new game engine and changing the style so hopefully the next one will get it right. :)
