there would've probably been a label made for the ''non-Autistics'', like ''Socio Syndrome'' or something (just completely made that up).

How about "invasive personality sharing disorder?" ;)

They would probably focus on the inability to form a special interest or think logically, as it would probably be the most crippling in an autistic society.

Yes! [can't...stop...laughing!]

Perhaps they could be medicated somehow so that they weren't trying to live their lives secondhand by wasting their time wondering about other people's interests.

I suspect an autistic-dominant society would help to make the human race evolve much more quickly. I have a feeling people would start mating based more on traits that will be beneficial for raising offspring, and having the best possible children gene-wise, instead of using feelings so much to choose a mate. It kinda seems like the movie the invention of lying is what I would consider a good example of what one could expect if everyone was autistic

I just watched some of "The Invention of Lying" ... OMG, funny!

But the copy of the movie was had Aspie traits and I had to stop watching. The soundtrack and incidental sounds were FRIKKIN LOUD! and the voices were very quiet. It was too real and stressed me out.

Oh, the one flaw about that movie v. the theme of this thread was that everyone was saying what they were thinking all the time, even taking pleasure at hurting each other's feelings. If it were an Aspie-world movie, I feel like people would've been more shy, reserved and awkward.

Haha I wondered the same thing too. In some ways better, in other ways worse. Sure we would be a lot more honest, probably much less hate crimes and injustice, and a lot more people focused on their interest.

At the same time, even though Aspies relate better with each other, there would still be limited interaction, slower communication, and teamwork wouldn't be quite the same.

That all being said I really do wish there were more aspies. Not the majority, but maybe 25% Aspies 75% NT. Life without either would suck.

Yes. If the majority had autism the world would be full of individuals, instead of cliques. Those who did not have autism would be seen as having an abnormal level of social neediness, an abnormal need for social approval and connection with others.

Yes and no.

Yes, because NTs, or if you're being as specific as you meant, then non-autistics everywhere would be the minority. They would not have the control they do now, as with any minority/majority relationship. And no, because your wording implies that being what is now considered normal, in the reverse, would be considered a disorder. I think it would more be considered a defect. Like a child born unable to see color, or deaf, or a learning disability from just plain low intelligence, they would be considered as defective, or missing something rather than out of the having a Mental "Illness".

High-functioning children (And adults) with Aspergers and Autism, if you've ever noticed, tend to seem a little smarter (Unless you're ignorant, and consider a lack of social grace as stupidity). I don't think it's really that we're that much smarter, but that we can focus on single tasks a little better. Multitasking is important in our world, but the ability to drown everything out and completely zone in and concentrate on anything, studies or work, increases productivity. So you have an NT working beside an Autistic, both studying/working on the same thing. If it is something the Autistic is interested in, he/she will turn out with a much more significant result than the NT. That, if looked at objectively, sounds like the NT has an impediment. And in a world where NT is minority, he/she would be "Inferior" when compared to the alternative. At least, from my personal experience and what I gather on the Internet, the focus prospect is accurate.

The main advantage NTs have over us is their Social skills. But, that's only when dealing with other NTs. When dealing with Autistic people, they don't know how to interact properly. And Autistics seem to interact better with each other because they think on the same wavelength. So, if the Autistic were the majority, then NTs would be the social dregs of the world. It all rests in the hands of the Majority.

Hi,

I was just pondering on autism after discovering this forum, and a question I have previously thought came into my head, so I thought it might make an interesting discussion.

Do you think that if the majority of the worlds populace had autism, that people without it would be the ones counted as having a disorder?
