Coping with poor diet.
- I'm vegetarian since birth
- I don't like freezer food because I'm scared of undercooking
?
If your freezer food is pulses and veggies you can't undercook them - as long as you defrost and then boil up stews/curries until they are really bubbling. You've been in charge of prep, there will be no cross contamination, the stuff comes straight from the freezer so hasn't been hanging around anywhere else, no meat, and you are safe with boiling liquidy stuff.
Having said all that, I make food like that for convenience and nutrition, not hygeine. I don't much care about hygeine as for me (me, not everyone) I think my immune system likes dirt. For the last 10 years I have been in a very relaxed/dirty house, and I have been healthier since.
I'd stay away from vitamins and supplements. They can't be absorbed as well as the real thing in real food, and if you take too much of them (for instance Vitamin A) it can accumulate in the body and cause harm. Vitamin C on the other hand, if there's too much the body just gets rid of it.
So on the whole it's better, and tastier, to have an apple, a banana and a few grapes or an orange spread over the day. I'd also say regular mealtimes are a good idea. Appetite often comes with eating something tasty. Leaving 5-6 hours between 3 main meals sounds about right.
Like the last poster I wouldn't worry too much about being super hygienic but if it helps do as one poster suggested and have your own saucepan and your own frying pan, wash them yourself and keep them seperately if you would find that helpful.
If you have milk with your breakfast cereal, and maybe have a yoghurt as a snack mid morning that's pretty good.
A very simple and quick to cook evening meal would be Asian noodle based (one batch= one portion), either fry up some chopped onion & chopped bell pepper in olive oil, then add the cooked noodles, and (if you eat eggs) scramble an egg into the mixture. Season with salt, pepper and if you like, a bit of sesame oil.
If you like this you can have lots of permutations with different vegetables or tofu or cashew nuts instead of the eggs as you should only have eggs two or three times a week.
I have never had a microwave so don't know about this problem you mention.

I'm going to be eating food instead of supplements starting with my next payslip. If it's not on the Canada Food Guide or in the form of food, it won't go into my mouth. During the times that WP is down, I'll be looking up what fruits and vegetables have which vitamins. Part of it has to do with not wanting to deal with pills and part of it has to do with having a role model who likes food.
