Both. I like being organized and having an exact place for everything but I have a lot more stuff than I have places for. So I end up just absentmindedly sticking things wherever I can find a spot.

I am kind of obsessive about my clothes so I tend to keep those organized. But I always have dirty dishes piled up, and recycling that needs to go out. I don't open my mail for weeks sometimes and that piles up too.

With certain spaces I go back and forth between having it neat, or completely trashed. The work supplies I keep in my car for instance, have to be continually sorted and reorganized. So it will be neat for awhile until it gets trashed again.

The thing about organizing is I get so nitpicky and persnickety about it, it will take me hours to sort something that another person would probably get done in 15 minutes. It is almost like I go into an altered state, I will just keep sorting and resorting over and over again to get it just right.

If I don't have time to get everything neat just the way I want it, I get disgusted and start scattering things all over. Like why bother if I can't do it just right? Also sometimes I just do not have the mental capacity to think about where things are supposed to go.

It depends what you mean by organized. I organize some things very well compared to other people, for example, I almost always have everything I need for college lessons: Pencilcase, calculator, file, textbooks, homework diary and most of my schoolmates are crap at this. On the other hand, I am not very good at being tidy and though I know pretty much where all my stuff is, my mum is often getting at me for leaving papers and books around in places where "they don't live," even though to me they live there, even if they are on a random surface or on a space of floor.

I would say I'm more organized than disorganized, but I am not the most organized person ever. When I forget something like my pencilcase, phone, or even sometimes the fiction book I'm reading, I go into Aspie panic mode. Not quite tantrums, but my equivalent, very angry and unreasonable. I HATE HATE HATE losing things.

I tend to be kind of organized due to OCD but I'm sometimes very disorganized due to getting frustrated with my OCD when I try to be organized; it's like I want things more perfect than I can get in a releasable amount of time so I sometimes don't attempt to start organizing

Disorganized from an outside point of view, but I know where everything is.

Horribly disorganised, but with a rigid routine to compensate.

Organized but not in an obsessive way. Everything in my room has a place but is not always neat.

Mostly disorganized. Organized in some areas, and even when I am at my most disorganized, I have things in specific places, just...messy.

I don't know how to organize efficiently, however. Or, say, organize a room so that I can find things without causing a mess.

Catastrophically disorganized.

The closest I've managed to come is the following:

* Stuff I'll need to do my taxes next year

* Stuff I'm likely to care about at some point in the future that's:

o Timeless in nature (birth certificate, etc)

o From this year

o From last year

o Older than last year

* Stuff I'm unlikely to ever care about again that's from:

o This year

o Last Year

o Sometime before last year

... and even this system frequently fails me, and most stuff ends up in a box marked "stuff to file someday".

When I can organise myself I'm very organised. When I let things slip it can all just fall apart. I need to be very organised or not, and when not I don't do a bloody thing.
