If it could be cured tomorrow, would you have it done?

Yes! I would do it right now even if it would involve a very painful surgery or death.
I hate everything about myself and have not had any friends in ten years. If it would cure this loneliness,depression and self hatred it would be worth it.

Absolutely. The advantages I've gained from my autism do not outweigh the severe disadvantages.

And people on the spectrum don't suffer from depression, then? :?

EDIT: Regarding a cure, it's a bit late for me, tbh. Most of the damage has been done to me in childhood and I cope pretty well as an adult (apart from mental health problems). If I could be 5 years old again and get cured, I would. Otherwise, there's no point. I do feel like the part of my life where I really 'suffered' from ASD is over but a lot of my problems now are due to childhood trauma.

Asperger's has always been a part of me and it always will be. It's what makes me the person that I am. Sure I have troubles with it, but everyone has problems in life, whether you're autistic or not. So my obvious answer is no.

Hell no. Besides, how do you know that curing it would make ANYTHING better? It's called a developmental disorder for a reason, and at this point you have already developed into an autistic adult. You can't change a lifetime in a single day.

If a so-called cure existed for autism I would not (and I repeat---I would not) take it. I am happy with being autistic. Autism has given me gifts and wonderfully enjoyable interests.

Yep! Its not even close, my quality of life would greatly improve.

Sometimes, I daydream if I could just be a NT for a day.... just a day.....

Do you honestly look at NT culture and want to be a part of it?

Heh, I certainly don't. I find it ironic too considering how many predictable and monotonous rituals exist in society too, but they emphasize with social aspects more than anything else. It's funny because I know this but can't quite pull off playing NT because it's too boring, feels degrading and is mentally taxing to me.

Could someone please go catch a couple of nice, normal neurotypicals who have an absolutely perfect life and everything they could ever want? I really want to see one or two. I've never actually met one. While you're at it please go find a yeti, a bigfoot, and the Loch Ness monster. I think you'll come back with one of them first.

No way! If Autism Speaks nazis ever show up on my doorstep demanding I take their cure, I'm popping a cap in their ass.

Actually, I did try to imagine me without autism, and I don't like the scenario:

* Still have ADHD
* Still have fibromyalgia
* Still have depression due to a history of failures caused by ADHD
* Still have anxiety
* Be more socially aware of what people might be thinking about me
* Have social anxiety

I'm fine as I am, really.

Omg, no. Perhaps if I was born without AS... perhaps. But now, no.
