I'll have to morph the question some. So now there's a fairy godmother type, possibly rather eccentric indeed, who casts a normalcy spell with a time limit of perhaps one week. It would have to be this way because unless the pill also magically cured the ADD I'd forget the restore pill existed or lose the stupid thing.

Besides being happy being me, the other reason that I would not take an NT pill is because I am a wimp who is afraid of taking pills, especially ones with such pervasive mind-altering effects.

However, I think that I would enjoy making mind-altering substances for other people to take. NT pills, schizophrenia pills, bipolar pills, everyone's current favorite borderline personality disorder pills, etc etc etc. I would enjoy making them in different shapes and colors, and they would each have their own compartments in a lovely pillbox, like See's Candies.

No, because, for better or worse, I'm still transgendered, and I can't help think that being Aspie helps protect me from that somewhat.

I would need many pills to make me "normal." :D

Okay, not only does such a pill exist but this is pretty much exactly how it works. But sure, carry on yammering away to yourselves, y'all.
Since no-one else has, I now feel duty bound to ask: go on then, what is it?

I wouldn't, because AS is a part of me. It's shaped over 30 years of my likes, dislikes, quirks and personality and I wouldn't give that up for any amount of time.

Oh hell yeah. Of course I would satisfy my curiosity.

Here's a question I've never seen here, but as is the way with questions like this, it would not surprise me if someone has and someone posts a link to a thread with the same question. Well, I haven't seen it, so in case it never has been asked, I will.

The usual question goes like this:

"Would you want to be cured?"

Every time I see that I think to myself, "What a useless thing to think about. There is no cure, and won't be in my lifetime, so why bother even thinking about it?"

Today though, I did think about it for a brief moment and realized I wouldn't, because I have NO clue what life without it is like. What if I hate the change?

And that led me to this question:

What if we could "try" not being AS for a while, but knew we could go back to being AS if we didn't like it?

If there was a pill you could take and *poof!* your Autism is GONE, but there was a "restore" pill that would restore your AS any time you wanted to take it, would you try it?

Nope.

I love that answer! I don't think I would take such a pill because I like the kind of person AS has helped make me. I think I've gained wisdom from my experiences that I wouldn't have gotten as an NT. I am at the point in my life where I am starting to feel comfortable in my own skin and to appreciate my uniqueness.

Wow, I must be the only one here who truly hates having AS.

I'm really curious as to why people ask these kind of questions; questions proposing scenarios which will never occur. It's rather like asking how my life will change when the leprechauns appear with their pots of gold at the bottom of my garden. Completely pointless.

I'm all for exploring realistic possibilities and sounding out the views and attitudes of others but this kind of make believe strikes me as odd.

What do you expect to gain? Am I missing something? Just genuinely curious.

Sounds expensive...

... nah. Even if there was a "turn off" pill to go with it, I have a feeling that I would lose it. Best not to take that risk. :)

It depends on the cost / side effects.

That said, I would like to experience life as an NT, just for a while, to see what it's like.

I think being an NT for a day would be an interesting experience, and it'd certainly give me a useful insight into what their minds are like, but I certainly wouldn't want to stay like that.

If there was such a pill I would take it. Life would be so much easier being NT.
