Yes and no.

Yes, because life would be easier in socializing, I wouldn't always have to worry about if what I was saying/doing was inappropriate or offensive, because I would be able to read people better and know when and what to say. Also the sensory issues (loud noises in particular) wouldn't prevent me from going places where I could meet people, ie) disco clubs are too loud and bright for my liking.

No, because I enjoy my interests and it is nice to not have to be caught up in all the NT drama and backstabbing that goes on. I also like being more intelligent than many NT people lol.
Also I feel as an Aspie I have more purpose and value to add to life becuase my energy goes towards advancing and discovering things rather than talking about people and worrying about petty things.

So overall no

Haha that's a good point!

I would not want to be NT at all-doesn't appeal to me to be the way NT's are and the way they can treat others without any regrets.

I would never want to be NT, being AS makes up most of my personality and without it I wouldn't be so fraptiously eccentric! But if I was NT for a day I would firstly stare someone right in the eyes just to see what it's like, go to a party and try mingling, and finally eat something in public (a personal phobia that I haven't been able to kick).

It's a big call because it involves processing information very differently than I'm used to. If I were to be completely NT I would not be ADHD as well. I wouldn't miss the obvious signs but not have attention to detail. Change wouldn't lead me to meltdowns or shutdowns.

But my interests are now my life. If I woke up with no memory of them, sure it might be ok. But if I lost interest in sci-fi, science and couldn't write as deeply as I do, what would I do? Work 9-5 and then have beers and the pub with my colleague? Go to gigs with my friend and make more friends and hang out with them constantly?

NT's aren't spared from stress or mental illness either and people that are very social have so many dramas with their friends. It's a different kind of stress to what we experience but it's still stress. They still experience loss, and love and regret.

Given my many struggles I think I've finally found ways to use my strengths.

I agree with you so much. After looking up all the "symptoms" of right-brain HBI, and considering all that I have come up with for living with it, I realized that it is a huge part of my identity, and I just wouldn't be me if I were NT. I would be boring. I would be just another face in the crowd.

Does right-brain HBI cause NVLD, which in turn may cause AS?

Sure, I'd like to see what it's like to be NT for a day. I'd probably end up partying and watching an NFL game on TV, then go speeding down the highway while drunk. I'd get pulled over and arreated. Jail's only for that day too, right? :)

I've been working at being NT all my life with little success. I'm just going to be Autistic now; see how that works out.

I wish I could be an NT permanently. That would solve so many of my problems.

I sometimes wish I was an aspie AND a NT. For so far such thing is possible.

Sometimes I go through periods during which I do...and I'm going through one now actually...because I want to do things people my age do...but it's not just my AS that holds me back, it's my physical disability too.

Some parts of my mind say yes and no if I were NT (neurotypical).

Yes because my life would be a lot easier when socializng with other people, especially the women, I wouldn't worry as much about what I saying or doing that can be deemed inappropiate to others, I can pick up figurative language rather quickly and read between the lines, and I would be speaking my mind if others decide to shoot me down. Also, I wouldn't be as angry with other people if they done something to warrant my anger or getting my under my skin.

No because something tells me I'll become just as bad as my brothers, such as being arrested for a crime I may be involved in, I would lose my interests in leisures and subjects, I would have to deal with being introduced into current trends, and I would have to have to deal with drama and backstabbing.

I decide there's something unique into having autism because I would advance and discover newer things in the world, and I certainly enjoy being intelligent while enjoying social occasions from time to time.

I don't wish to be NT in any way. I was hurt by NTs.
