For my celebrity spot-the-aspie contribution I usually trot out Andrew Lloyd Webber. I'm quite suprised that no one (as far as I know) has put this suggestion forward, considering what a public figure he is, but he and and family seem very definitely aspie. It might explain his less than charming ways with the press. Or he could just be a pompous ass. Or pompous ass with AS.
(im just gonna cut and paste my observations I posted on the AFF site):
From an article: "She was warned that Lloyd Webber was 'volatile' and that she would 'probably get sacked at some point'. But their first meeting was 'so sweet -**** he didn't look me in the eye once... ****But what she finds 'most intriguing' about him is the contradiction between his 'socially awkward' manner and his ability to 'write love songs that people hum all over the world'."
It's common knowledge he's had an extreme, terrible temper since he was young; "hyperactive" as a young child; in the early school years he used to stand with his hands over his ears, blocking out the sound of his peers around him. Very deep and obsessive interests over ancient ruins/architecture-- encyclopediac knowledge, obsessively collected Ordnance Survey maps, physically uncoordinated etc etc etc etc etc. Common adjectives in the press: mercurial, twitchy, fidgety, obsessive. Very obsessive.
The parents are described as distant, eccentric, unable to show any tactile form of affection towards ppl/each other; JLWs biographer goes on to suggest it as a reason for their lavishing affection on their cats instead. The mum was obsessed with helping other people to the extent that she didn't seem to see the effect it was having on her kids, the household or even the people she was helping...
But the dad William takes the cake--- he was a prodigy (read JLW's bio), tea was always at 5 and dinner always at 7 and if anyone was so much as five minutes late, he would be furious. Regardless of whether he had work or anything at all on or not he would arrive home at exactly 11pm every night. Extreme bouts of melancholia, almost strangled his son to death once. not that i suggesting Aspie= violence! I know there's more but i can't seem to recall...
