I've been told I have a "rubber face." In fact, one way to diffuse "look at me I'm a geek" tension at school was to pull faces. Somehow I had a reputation for being smart and dumb at the same time.

As I've aged, everything I'm thinking shows on my face. I am a horrible liar.

I don't think I have it in particular, but I try to adapt it to be expressive.

Not really, it's like I'm in a bubble and when information comes in, I process it dispassionately and by the time I should be making an appropriate facial expression the moment has passed. Or I forget.

I can do...it depends.

I used to spend time pulling faces at my webcam and taking odd photos of myself pulling faces, so I do have many facial expressions and tones of voice (I also spent a lot of time watching people like lee evans and mimicking them so...). I will add that people have said I can be a bit too animated facial expression wise (in other words my facial expressions can be a bit exaggerated unless I deliberately tone them down).

Sometimes, however, I can be quite reserved in that people often don't realise that I am getting upset when I actually am...

It seems to vary. When it comes to showing distress in regards to being upset about something I tend to hit meltdown status before anyone realises there is anything wrong. This can confuse people because one minute I seem fine and the next I am having a meltdown. I was not fine before hand I just did not show it, or rather, they did not pick up on it.

Signs of anxiety such as hands shaking are more obvious as I don't have conscious control over that when it happens (its rare and only happens in certain instances such as at job interviews or drs appointments...drs make me feel nervous lol).

In general conversation, I am more likely to respond to my own thoughts than what someone else says in a though, unless they make me laugh. Then I laugh. I am usually too busy pottering around in my own head to interact with other people most of the time, unless I am in social mode.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.
When I'm trying to act normal and friendly, I smile too much. I've been told I make exaggerated expressions with my face, inappropriate reactions which seem unnatural.
And when I look at photos where I'm smiling,....it's true, I don't know how to smile properly. Either I barely smile or it looks large in a weird way.
Other times when I'm just being myself, I often get told my face is very expressionless. If I say something and mean it, if I make a joke, if I'm happy or sad about something...etc.etc., you can't read it on my face. This can look like I am dishonest or constantly bored when I'm not.

I have facial expressions, which are natural. A few weeks ago I had a spot on my forehead, and nearly every time I spoke it always hurt, and I found out it was because I use facial expressions, so when I'm talking I might sometimes raise my eyebrows (as I've seen other people do) and the spot must get squished as my muscles in my forehead move.

Also I've seen myself using facial expressions when I have been filmed before.

I don't use facial expressions much. 90% of the time I just have a blank expression on my face, regardless of my mood or emotions. Facial expressions don't really come naturally to me. Sometimes I try to "act" them out so that other people will "get the message", but it takes deliberate effort and doesn't feel natural, so I don't do it all the time, only when I both remember and find it necessary.

I have a blank face a lot of the time but when I use expressions, yes my face is very expressive. Some of it is natural, and some of it is put on. I put on faces while I'm in a conversation with someone because I feel weird just standing there with a blank look on my face.

Yes. And from what other have said, the expression on my face does not always correspond to what I am feeling. Like people come along and say I look sad, when I'm not. Or that I'm smiling but I don't realize it or know why. Since I'm not looking at myself, it's sort of hard to know what's going on.

Other times, like if I get bad news, I can feel that I am not having a facial expression that others might expect. Like my face stays in neutral. Emotional things can take awhile to sink in for me, so I think its kind of a delayed reaction thing. Or something.

This is what it is, though. LISTEN PEOPLE, lol.

Seems like psychs think the flat expression reflects an Aspie's emotional state. For me, it is definitely about the processing thing, I could be feeling absolutely anything at all but it's like I'm in a bubble, so my face is just flat.

Doesn't mean I can't do expressions, I can do any expression and make up my own. I just have to tune in.

I also have "dead eyes" much f the time, even when I'm in a great mood, I'm just light years away.

If I dont control my face manualy I just look serius but I fake it. I do Happy, Angry and Sad I've never needed more than that. I think I over compendate though I've been told I look like an animated carictor.
You can get away with 3 good well practiced faces, i use happy 90% of the time.

I have ZERO facial expressions.
I cannot show my feelings/expressions on my face.
If i feel sad/angry/happy/shocked/depressed/etc. My face would still look the same.
I can't even make expressions even if I tried, can't even pretend.
I can't even smile or do a natural laugh.

I don't really show expressions when I normally interact with other people, but when I'm acting I can put them up really well.

I'm not so sure....

I've watched NTs speak, and they do all these eye movements and gestures, then compare my own facial expressions, which seem rather flat.

Practice. You'll get by with Happy, Sad and Angry. It doesn't come naturaly for any of us.
