I don't know that I've ever noticed hair in there, but because we have dogs who shed a lot and we smoke, our house gets dusty fast, so besides my regular dusting, I clean the fans once a week. I take the front grill part off and run a brush over it, then wipe the blades with a damp soapy cloth and run a brush over the grill in the back of it.
Sometimes when it oscillates the blades hit the grill and that's a horrible noise but I just keep it off oscilating. I'd keep my hair and brushes away from it and clean it regularly and maybe that won't happen. I do notice any changes in it. Like, I have to keep it on 2 because 1 is too low and quiet and 3 is too high. It's not about blowing on me either, I have a ceiling fan for that. It's all about the noise.
Yeah, I clean mine too, and don't keep hairbrushes, etc. near it. However, I have long hair that seems to end up
everywhere. It's a fact of my life now that still annoys me.

No. I wouldn't even think a hair would make a sound. Are you sure that's what it is?
Yes. Every time I've heard that sound, I've turned off the fan, found one or two strands of hair caught in the rotating part and presumably whipping into the blades. Once I removed the hair, the sound was gone.

Wow, I was just about to post this same thread! Last night I was kept up by a hair in my bedroom fan, it was awful!
While you have my sympathies (it
is awful!) I am also somewhat glad I am not alone.

I have a fan on most of the day during the muggy Auckland summer. But I don't have it on at night. I do actually think that the sound comforts me and helps me to work, now that I think about it.
You're not Korean, are you? I sure hope not, or you might be in some serious danger.
I have it on during the winter. I've tried going without the sound and using music or the TV but it's not the same. I used to have the radio on all night, but where I live there are no radio stations I enjoy. Probably could do internet radio.
Also, wow to the fan death thing.

I don't like a fan on me when I sleep. I had a boyfriend when I was 18 that always wanted a fan on when he slept and I hated that. It made me cold.
I don't know about hearing a strand of hair in a fan but one noise that bothers me that no one else seems to hear is the tearing noise I sometimes hear when getting rid of a spiderweb. I have a phobia about touching spiderwebs.
I find freezing weather to be comfortable in shirt sleeves, so I don't mind the cold.
I do hear spider webs tear. It doesn't bother me much, but it's there.
