It's like they have no problem making us feel inferior, but we can be superior to them (at least in some ways).

Anyone else feel that way?

rule following?

Nobody's 100 percent different, nobody's 100 percent the same.

I know what you mean, it seems if i ever talk about my symptoms NT's always have the positives but not the negatives. I think they are intimidated by us tbh.

I wouldn't say Asperger's or any other ASDs have any benefits. Any assigned 'benefits' are usually attempts at comforting the individual and making it look like ASDs aren't as bad as they really are.

People - autistic or not - generally have difficulties to comprehend that one and the same thing can be advantageous and disadvantageous. That's why the world is sorted into "bad" and "good" and "inferior" and "superior" - as if these aspects are actually real properties (and not one-sided interpretations) of things and had any merit besides subjective value.

As far as I'm concerned, trying to coin purely positive traits which serve as a basis to point out equality doesn't solve the underlying issue. That's just playing along at the "I'm a precious person because I can do X"-game with everyone else because it results in hinting at that when it comes these traits that other people who don't have these traits are partly inferior to those who have those traits.

People are all equally precious anyway, it's not because of something they do or something they are capable of. Devaluing a person for crimes or thinking a person's achievements make them superior is a matter of opinion - one that the next person can freely disagree based on their priorities.

Yup.

And I get just as annoyed when Aspies display the same things toward NT's

I agree with honesty being a human trait. I have never met anyone who refuses to be blunt with me though they will kiss but when they think they can get something out of it. That's when the lying streak shows. Who tells their boss he is ugly, has no taste in clothes and smells bad? I never met one person who has the guts to do that.

My most positive trait is I don't live for destroying others.

I do!

Of course, my boss happens to be a really good friend of mine who'll just tell me to go **** myself, then tell me when to show up for work next.

I am talking about the real world where bonuses and promotions exist and employees get reprimanded for hurling what others might consider insults. In such environments, where salaries and livelihoods are at stake people get really good at telling folks what they think they want to hear.

Huh? Is it not obvious? Went to Southend several times with a couple of family, for a laugh, particularly at the slappers who appear to infest the place. You said you hate feeling different. My point is being different is a blessing if the alternative is being one of them. IMO.

Layla, I totally get you, the assessment diagnosisng me with AS was both wrong and all bad, literally saying I had no good qualities except my very good memory. I wish I had thought to ask for a note just telling the school I needed help in math and nothing more, rather than having that assessment given to them for them to treat me like a ret*d. Lucky my teachers, the ones whose classes I was actually in, treated me normal. :)
