i do not listen to people when they are eating. i almost always eat alone.

i think i know what you mean however. i do not like the thought of food inside other people's mouths being mixed with their saliva. one of the most disgusting things i ever saw was an x-ray film of someone eating a chocolate bar. their tongue undulates and their teeth chomp, and the mass inside their mouth becomes more and more soggy and ill defined and it makes me gag.

i ignore what i do not wish to notice however, but i do agree that the thought of foods inside a person's mouth mixed with their saliva as they happily chomp on it is atrocious.

i once thought of a very sickening thing, and that was that someone dribbled their saliva into a cup and filled it up and put it in the refrigerator, and when it was cold, someone else took it out and drank it. that is a nightmare of consideration, and i am not prone to consider things like that because i am older and i can just reject thoughts that i do not want to think about.

scrunching munching sound coming from peoples mouths are not tolerated by me for long because i just escape from the situation and i could not care less what people think about my departure.

Hate it.

Today I made my young son some hot cereal, which he ate with no "eating noises". I gave a bowl to my husband who for an unfathomable reason will not eat anything with a spoon without slurping. EEEK. After scores of requests to stop slurping (and a few fights) he continues. He professes that slurping is considered a compliment to the cook in China. He does not slurp in restaurants, so I do take it personal.

Over the years, I have had stop making him foods he slurps. Because I pretty much have a meltdown, even if I don't SAY anything and am white knuckling through my disgust.

I never get so annoyed at dinner tables than hearing people chew their food really loud!

It's not like it's impossible to chew quietly.

To be fair, that is true.

I hate it, too. I once had a roommate that, for some unknown reason, always made the loundest sounds while eating a banana... And she loved bananas! Every other day she'd sit there and it was just this obnoxious lip-smacking sound over... and over... again... I asked her to be quieter but she said that was as quiet as she could be. Really?! She was loud with other foods, too, but bananas have got to be the most annoying thing to hear someone eat...

IMMENSELY. To the point that if I hear someone on tv gulping, I have to stop myself punching the screen. My family makes fun and pretend to gulp all the time but somehow I only get annoyed at actual gulping when eating or drinking. I even hate it when i do it myself. Ahh well, another thing to add to my already looong list of quirks :)

If the person's a loud eater (like my dad) I can't stand it. I can't stay in the same room without becoming obviously disgusted so I have to leave the room so nobody sees my look of disgust. lol I also hate it when people scrape their plates when they're almost done a meal really loudly, like it's a big production.
