There seems to be chemistry going on in my head whenever stuff like sudden very loud noises and other sensory overloads affect me.

It starts with anxiety, then the anxiety becomes too much it causes anger, the anger then results in sadness and the sadness will finally cause extreme fatigue together with extreme ADD.

So to simplify it, loud noises make me want to lie down and sleep at that moment, bizarre eh?

Haha, can't say I've heard about that before. I get that feeling after I cool down, but not at that moment...huh.

They tend to annoy me more than make me angry, and to make me wince from the pain. Most of the sounds mentioned by other posters bother me. There is one bad sound I no longer have to hear though--my mother's voice. A part of me is sorry she is gone, but I don't miss her nasty, hyper critical voice, or her rants, or her total freak outs. She got worse with age. :(

I get really angry at loud noises. When I walk past a gate and hear a dog suddenly bark and it makes me jump six foot in the air, that makes me angry. I always feel like having a go at it's owners for leaving it in the front garden to make people jump as they walk past the gate. I don't know how people with pace-makers survive with these dogs with such loud barks running upto garden gates and making such a din.

Also screaming kids make me angry. I get really angry when people bring their babies into a restaurant. Even if they're quiet, 9 out of 10 times they start having a stupid tantrum over something, and I can't enjoy a meal when I've got a screaming brat near me, especially when the parents always put it on the nearest table to me.

Oh man it's so not just you.

I will literally scream when I hear loud, annoying or abrupt noises (at least while at home). Something drops? Roaring groan. Bag popped? Stand aside while I explode. And my dog barking? Hellfire spits out of me with such intensity that volcanoes are put to shame.

Loud noises, and repetitive, annoying noises are the bane of my existence and fill me with horrible rage and frustration.

Yes, particularly loud , high pitched sounds. Ie kids screaming, the neighbours dog (the word"bark" does not do it justice - it's more like a loud, high pitched banshee shreik) off-tune whistling, certain voices and ring tones. It probably doesn't sound very mature, but it is so painfukl it does my head in and after trying to reason with the f**ktard neighbours who have both shreiking kids and a shreiking dog that they let bark/howl/ screech for hours on end I've lost patience, and I just shreik back something to the tune of " Will you shut that f*****g dog up or shoot the damn thing!"

Something which really annoys me is the sound of people breathing loudly. I panic after a while when hearing that.

alarm clocks are the worst ever. when one goes off it literally feels like somebody hit me with a hammer.[/quote]

I made my alram clock using an old computer and software. When it goes off, it plays the same song and starts with a very low volume, then slowly increases to just about a soft voice. If I'm not already awake, then when the music is about as loud the fan noise of the PC I calmly wake.

The worst loud noises that make me angery are car horns - stupid car door remote locks - and loud motorcycles.. Neither are normal. I get angery and scream. I can force myself not to scream, but then the anger will last much longer.

Barking dogs can send me into a rage that takes quite a bit of effort to suppress. I was once doing a photoshoot of someone's house and their small dog kept yapping at me. There was a brief moment where I nearly killed the barking rat when no one else was in the room. I managed to keep from hurting it, but I had to go outside to calm down.

Related to this, I will also wake up suddenly if I hear even a very quiet whisper while asleep. I've never been able to fall asleep in the presence of others.

Yes, extremely angry, from the slightest unwanted or unexpected noise.

Even a plastic bottle will piss me off when it's expanding or contracting from a change in room temperature, and suddenly making a popping sound as the sides are dented inwards or pushed back out.

It's ridiculous to be pissed off by stuff like that, but noises made by people are so much worse. Someone opening or closing their front door in my block of flats makes me stop everything and wait until they are gone. I can't concentrate at all within 10 minutes of something like that, or even when I know that it is likely to happen soon.

I'm pretty much angry all the time.

Which reminds me, I really need to fix the holes in my wall.

Yes!! ! I hate it when there are loud outside noises when I'm trying to sleep... the sound of dogs barking is one of the worst. Lawnmowers too although they aren't quite as bad since they're at least more constant than woof woof woof *silence* WOOF!! !! *silence* woof woof woof woof woof *silence* GAH!! !

I can mostly tune children out, but when I lose it and yell at my husband in a blind rage it's usually when he's trying to talk to me (misunderstanding me, usually) and the kids are hollering and I just cannot take it any more.

Most noises scare me if I'm not expecting them. Mustangs (sports cars), motorcycles, leaf blowers, car door remotes (some of them come with a sound-off option thank god), doors slamming, beeping at the check-out counter, car doors slamming, car honking behind me, extremely loud music, strangers talking loudly behind me, extremely fast talking at any volume, dogs barking, and adults shouting.B

Does anyone else have the problem where a loud noise (such as a car engine revving up) goes off, and this sense of uncontrollable anger just overtakes you? Like, to the point of wanting to scream and beat the crud out of the next person to bad mouth you? I'm assuming this could be related to AS-esque sensory issues? Or do I just have severe anger issues?

Yes. Check out Misophonia. I have Misophonia and have had it since I was ten. It can be horrible. I have it along with AS but it can be independent of anything else as well. It is a very real and debilitating condition and has often left me wanting to commit suicide or even have homicidal thoughts. I can never own a fire arm because of it. And with Misophonia, as it is for me, the volume of the sound makes no difference. Loud or soft or even not even audible to regular people, my body has the same response.
