Suffer from EXCESSIVE Nuerological Typical Disorder
Disorder is a relative term. As far as I'm concerned, it might be a disorder around people with ASD, but by no means a disorder around NTs, aside from perhaps causing some mishaps and miscommunications due to the overapplication of the Theory of Mind. Live on and embrace your NTness! ![]()

Likely ADHD instead of what I've been diagnosed with before.
I work with children with this disorder. It's very sad. Over 30 of them are stuffed into a room and given test after test. Many of these children do not take a special interest in anything. They are subject to non-stop teasing and bullying, because they are inclined to do it to each other.
It can be a good thing not to get "straight and to the point"--I often am so much "to the point" that other people are unable to follow my reasoning. At worst, if you write or say more than is necessary about the process relating to the point, others will arrive at your conclusion before you do. For me, they often never arrive there, and I'm on to the next point already.
Thanks math girl. I guess I cannot really do anything but embrace my NT-ness until a cure exsists.
Scubasteve, the teasing and bullying is horrible but... sigh* I have multiple interest but none of them are really special. They lack a certain, je ne sais pas, virtue? I wonder if NT's can have 'true' interests or if we can even apperciate what an interest could really be?
Mrs. Potatoe Head, I'm sorry but, sigh* I can't grapple with the hard facts and conciseness? Are you trying to say that I could perhaps empathize or understand the feelings of those on the NT disorder spectrum? ![]()
Me neither. Not that I found if offensive either (always have to make this disclaimer
I think a good joke must have something surprising and this one didn't have it. Most jokes don't have.
Today I will finally go to library and start studying jokes and sense of humour. I find it interesting that people are laughing at things that are not-surprising, typical, cliche or something like that. Or think they are funnyeven though not laughing. If anyone has done similar studies, feel free to give me advices which book to loan.
Yep.

Mooby blues: Melancholy man
(Feline is Not-native Englishspeakker, excuse my freaky grammar or någonting)
I find it strange that NTs are always characterised on WP as being pathologically social. A lot of them are but there are plenty of self-contained, reclusive NTs out there with strong specialist interests that they like to pursue on their own instead of socialising. There are even plenty of socially awkward NTs and NTs who have difficulty adjusting to society for one reason or another (maybe because they are gifted or introverted or have other priorities than conforming to social expectations). It seems to have become a discriminatory term of abuse on this and other forums to mean something like "unthinking moron lacking in mental independence and who can't stand to be alone".
. Since just about everyone in the world is NT that would mean that things would be even worse than they in fact are.
Ooops. Just realised this is off-topic. I read the title of this thread and it sparked this immediate reaction in me. Having looked more closely at the original poster's post I can't find anything about being social. I was jumping to conclusions because that is the usual complaint about NTs here on the forum, namely that they are pathologically social and herd-like ![]()

Lundy, your sense of humor is intact. For every person that commented, at least five people said to themselves, "this guy's not funny, he's an ass." You were brave enough to speak up. This isn't really taking a mickey/piss on AS symptoms but critique upon NT ignorance.
Lundy and feline 82'; the joke is social critique. jokes need to play on or talk about an issue that is constant and under people's skins but that no one mentions on a day to day basis. That frustrates people so their needs to be an outlet. People can laugh and say, "hey I know what you're talking about, isn't that stupid that we do things like that anyway?" Social critique jokes do that about problems with society.
I worked this joke out subconsciously. Now I'm interpreting it in a consious sense. Aspies live in a NT dominant world and everyday they are reminded of it because of the NT culture. NT's look at Asperger's as a disorder or as 'the problem' and don't reflect back upon themselves. I took common Aspie complaints about NT's and I took them to extreme levels and I called it a disorder, thereby flipping the NT-AS world upside down. Now the NT's have the disorder. The real problem lies with NT's ignorance, and people have said that and felt it but this joke provides an outlet for that. All the 'advice' that people have given is often, their subconscious or unspoken reflection or criticism of NT culture in regards to it's view on AS.
"The history of jokes" hosted by lewis black is an ok movie but see if you can get it for free. The history of joke's is pretty void of references to American culture. Because a lot of jokes deal with social critique, you need to have a good understanding of the culture to get all jokes that are social critique. Stay away from books that reference American culture in particular unless you have a good grasp of it.

I'm sorry, but I really don't get what your point is. I don't understand about critiques, I just sensed some sort of manipulation going on and didn't feel comfortable with it.
Also, I don't follow your comment about people giving advice. Is that a general interpretation of how you believe WrongPlanet works? As I understand it, this is a supportive community for people with Autism, Asperger's and other neurological differences, who may be looking for answers, advice, reassurance etc - I don't believe there's an underlying dislike of NTs which comes across in the way people offer advice etc. I actually feel pretty upset now, to be honest, you've got me questioning myself and the WP community.

Your intellectual attributes seem rather ... mediocre. Do you mean to say you do not have any particular area of special interest, at all? What a strange child you are.
Well, welcome to our school. Our goal here is to prepare you for life in the real world. Despite your astonishing lack of focus, I am confident that if you apply yourself, you may have at least a 20% chance of minimum wage employment, perhaps in the service sector. For example, to help develop your skills, we'll have you in mental ed classes with the rest of the students. We'll have you competing against other students in their areas of special interest, and do so in such a manner that your ego will be highly vulnerable. This will be a highly competitive environment and we know, your lack of any special talent and your odd mannerisms may be the subject of ridicule right from the outset, never mind when competitive activity commences. These much more capable students may mock your efforts frequently, but this will be part of your socialization, so do try. Your social success in life will, to some degree, depend on it.
We do have a comprehensive program to deal with this sort of bullying, never fear. So far the problem seems to be be statistically increasing, but it should peak and begin to decline soon (I think). There have been several thousand instances of suicide attributable to it but it's nothing to worry about, really. We've only had 1 case here. So far.
mocking people on the forum is not cool. Smartalex, you seem perfectly aware that your joke was offensive, therefore it has no place here. as per the rules (as bolded):
