It is total nonsense that t he immue system has nothing to do with your neurology. There is an entire field of study, psychoneuroimmunology. This of course does not say that autism is correlated or causally related to immune dysfunction, but the general statement that immunology and neurology hav enothing to do with each other, it false.

The high incidence of asthma and allergy among highly gifteds tell another story. What it would be in general for peoples on the spectrum though, I have no idea.

sarcasm? That is a pretty blanket statement, I haven't been sick in months. I have a great immune system

You are a adult now, in the peak of your faculty, of course you rarelly sick! Personally I was frequently sick as a child, far less so as a adult.

First, I've always had a strong immune system. Now, the thing with gifted children in asthma is that gifted children will have different environmental factors than some other people. As a gifted child may be playing less sports and stuff, they may get less exposure to pathogens, which could weaken their immune system. Saying that gifted neurology causes asthma is preposterous.

I say no, autism does not directly effect other parts of the body, at least in and of itself. Changes in physiology may result due to a change in behavior, for example toe walking could gradually change to shape of the foot, or sensory sensitivities may cause a change in diet, effecting the ecosystem of the gut. Changes in the head may be directly related to changes in the brain as the head surrounds the brain. Physical phenotypes may exist not because they are directly related to autism, but because autism is genetic and genes that affect physical appearance may be more common with genes that cause autism. I believe autism is too generic to affect the other parts of the body as it is defined entirely be behavior.

As a side note, yes I did here that genetically speaking tiny physical deviations (such as a bent little finger, facial abnormalities, etc.) are correlated with autism. I forgot the source, sorry.

I have a misaligned jaw..not really very noticeable at all just makes it look like I need braces and makes my molars scrape together too much lol, but braces wont help already tried when I was like 12. does that count as an abnormality?

I don't have any physical symptoms associated with autism.

My immune system is bad, it is just weird. Like, it tends to be really good sometimes and bad other times, usually it is bad when I am stressed, like really bad when I am stressed, but otherwise, pretty good. I wasn't sick much when I was little either, more than now, but that tends to be true for a lot of people. I got sick about an average amount as a kid, but tended to get different kinds of illnesses than most of my peers. I was less prone to colds and more prone to ear infections.

I have an allergy to sulpha but people on both sides of my family are allergic as well. It doesn't really effect me much because I believe it is a more common allergy (I know lots of people allergic to it), it's not life-threatening and I have never HAD to take it.

I am about average at sports for someone who has no interest in them and chooses alternate forms of exercise (such as walking).
