The famous face test I only scored 48% :(
For the new/old test I scored 58% :(

Let face it (pardon the pun) I have a terrible memory for faces. As soon as the usual cues like hairstyles were taken away I couldn't even recognize G. W Bush

Oh man, I for one am not going to take this test. I did have a modified version of such a test when I saw a neuropsych and supposedly I did normally on it, so I'm going to go with that. For whatever reason even if I do have faceblindness I don't have problems recognzing peoplel I know, even out of context, so either I'm using other means to ID them, or something else. I do ***NOT*** need to start worrying about this again.

It took me forever to think of the names for some of those celebrities. I think I am actually pretty good with remember faces, it's the names I struggle with.

Face blindness has a medical term, prosopagnosia. I read about it in a newspaper this summer, which was one of my clues to being AS, as it part of the spectrum. This private site about it is very interesting. http://www.prosopagnosia.com/. On the Interactive page there are a number of quizzes and tests, although she points out that the grading part is broken and she doesn't have time to fix it.
There are also links to some exteranal tests http://www.prosopagnosia.com/interactiv ... /index.asp.
The one that was really significant to me is a mosaic quiz, where you try to put together a face out of parts to make it look like one they show you. I got progressively worse on it. http://www.pages2send.com/facememory/index.shtml
Have fun!

93 % i wonder how it would be after a week or more

and 73 % for the famous ones (i didn't recognise one of my favorite actors, bizare de bizare ...)

since i'm a painter i do look at faces a lot, but i also have some difficulties recognising them ,
especially with people i think lookalike (like two braun haired girls of 10 both having a soft expresssion, and small eyes or so)

I did the Famous Faces one with my bf, and he knew almost ALL of them! I even failed to recognise the King!

Needless to say I'd have failed that one miserably... and 70% on the Unfamiliar Faces one is really good for me even if it's not so good for most people (most people don't not recognize their mother when she puts on a different pair of glasses, hehehe)

Hey Medusa!! !

Want to know a secret!?!? The guy I didn't know, but a barely concious thought told me what to say(almost like a friend whispering in my ear rather than a memory), was ELVIS!

YEAH, Embarassing! But HEY, we BOTH missed it! And I always held up his movie "clambake" as a pattern I would want for my life, etc....

In Clambake, he plays a rich, smart guy that trades lives with a beachbum so he can hopefully find the woman of his dreams WITHOUT always wondering if she married him for his social position.

As I recall, the last scene basically has him driving his friends car with the woman that just RELUCTANTLY said she would marry him. She wonders how they will survive on a meager salary, and elvis' character shows her the oil rigs on the side of the road, and mentions he got so many more as a present from his father for his last birthday, the car was his car, and he's filthy rich. She thinks he's a nut. He shows her his license, and she FAINTS!

ALL THAT, and I STILL almost didn't recognize him!

Steve

Out of 20 target faces (ones you studied in the first part of this test), you correctly identified 13.
Out of 30 nontarget faces (ones that didn't study in the first part of this test), you correctly responded that you had not seen 29 of them.

Overall, you got 84% correct

The average person with normal face recognition scores about 85% on this test. If you scored less than 75% on this test, this may indicate face recognition difficulties.

though having time to think about it made this easier than it would be in a real life situation.

I got a 23% recognition rate for the famous faces I knew, and a 52% accuracy rate for the familiar faces test (which is just above chance, since there are two possible answers). I thought it was pretty crazy that I couldn't identify George W. Bush, if his hair and body had been cropped out of the picture. I see him every day on the news!

Oh yeah. I also didn't identify Elvis.

Yep. Me = faceblind.

A funny story about face-blindness: I only just realized that there are THREE blonde, middle-aged secretaries at my workplace, because I saw them all together in the same room. For five months, I thought there were only two--and I know I saw them all regularly, because I realized today there are three desks for three secretaries!

(Actually, for the first month, I thought there was only one. But I saw two of them together pretty quickly, and also I accidentally asked one for information another had promised to find for me. Now I know to go to the desk at which I remember a previous conversation taking place.)

I still can't tell them apart.

Face blindness or not, I really don't know famous people. I was able to get the ones like Jim Carry, Jerry Seinfeld and Robin Williams, but was totally unable to recognize Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves and John Travolta.

Out of 30 faces, you correctly identified 14.
You were familiar with 23 of the people in this test.
If we exclude the ones you were unfamiliar with, you got 61% correct.

Out of 20 target faces (ones you studied in the first part of this test), you correctly identified 15.
Out of 30 nontarget faces (ones that didn't study in the first part of this test), you correctly responded that you had not seen 20 of them.
Overall, you got 70% correct

Don't worry, it took me a second to figure out who that one was, and I focus a lot of hate his way when I see pics/video of him!

This is me too! For two of the famous ones, I put "that guy" and then was honest about whether or not I was thinking of the right person.

Out of 20 target faces, you correctly identified 5.
Out of 30 nontarget faces, you correctly responded that you had not seen 10 of them.

Statistically speaking just guessing would give you 50% so I really suck :P

Im not even going to try the famous people one. If I have to recognize my husband by his clothes, general shape, the way he walks and the sound of his voice I dont think celebrities have a chance in hades :P

I know it sounds like cheating but I tried one more time to see if I can improve with practice

But to my suprise I did worse if anything

Out of 20 target faces (ones you studied in the first part of this test), you correctly identified 11.
Out of 30 nontarget faces (ones that didn't study in the first part of this test), you correctly responded that you had not seen 17 of them.

Overall, you got 56% correct on the old-new test a drop of 2% on my last effort , but it was stiil by virtue of wild guesses

On the other famous people test I only manage 40%, a drop of 8% on my last effort.

I would never have picked Mahatma Gandi if he did not have his glasses on

I find it much easier if I can see other cues such as hairstyles hats and glasses etc
This is how I scored with this image portraiture test. I am heavily into photography so I should think image portraits are far up my alley
How does anyone score with this test.
