doubtful the autisim rate is rising, and besides most aspies have normal parents, but if a cure is found they could go extinct.

It is kind of hard to cure a disorder that is also genetic.

Peacocks survive.

They have the sense never to get drunk though. And it'll only take one intelligent hen to start selecting for real body size instead of air and feathers, and the game's up.

I don't understand. Meaningful or not, we are here.

The things you notice only seem to suggest that aspies are not a race. I think it's ridiculous to think that aspies/auties are a race, because we occur in populations with any ethnic background.

Actually it seems like we are on the rise regardless of low marriage rates or not. I am one of the many Aspies living in Silicon Valley although I was not born in Silicon Valley rather near it, Stockton, California and grew up mostly in Clovis and Fresno I guess there could be somewhat of a correlation to that geographical area. I sure do like it in Silicon Valley it is a nerds paradise if not an aspie paradise. All the science centers and electronics corporations, great schools, and a decent location near the bay not to mention the diversity of the population and higher tolerant people as opposed lets say some one horse town in the midwest.

I absolutely love visiting the south Bay, I have not been there for a few years but I feel right at 'home' every time I'm there, and I always have to put in a ride to Alum Rock. Pity I haven't had time to hit the bookworm circuit on my trips, but the geology more inland calls out to me.

I was born in French Camp myself, although my family immediately moved back to the Inland Empire where I grew up. That area has a rich history and the 'feel' is similar to going down Monterey Rd. I suppose it's nearly as nerd friendly; UC Riverside is pretty big on ag science and entomology, I believe that's where they tracked the arrival of killer bees and West Nile, but I don't see much hope for an aspie having all their dreams come true there but still stands a better chance than OC, where everybody loves to wear a mask

In America aspies are not under threat.

If you're looking for something to worry about: worry about slender people (of every neurology).

Skinny people are going extinct.

In America its survival of the fattest!

What I meant is that apparently, having the genes associated with Asperger's syndrome doesn't put you at a significant evolutionary disadvantage.

The cause of AS seems to be autosomal dominant (at least my observations proved so) with epigenetic / environmental components. I think it indicates that Aspies are not going to become extinct soon.
