I've been typing for 20 years and I've just recently managed to start typing with 4 fingers and a thumb for space

Touch-typing? I had to learn it in high-school (in secondary school, to be exact). I wasn't good at it, but unlike most students, I decided to retain this ability by practicing. So for me it's more finding the right words that makes typing difficult.

I got a lousy 55.06% at a slow 1,129.20 ms. Sometimes I wasn't quick enough and other times I would see more or less than what was really there. I guess I got an F. I think I did 89 trials but didn't know when I was supposed to stop.

I can't touch type, so I can't do such accurately.

What is touch typing? Like not looking at the keyboard when you type? If that's the case, no. I still need to look at the keyboard as I type. Sometimes I can look away from it but only for a few button pushes.
