I have the perfect house (except for condition). It's a 3BR ranch and I don't have furniture in it. The location would be better if it was in a rural area, but still had fiber optic internet.

I would love a monolithic dome. One of the the toughest houses you can build 50% less energy and resistant to tornadoes and hurricanes. Please don't mind the alien stuff its the only pic I could find with the shape I would like. Why not have a home that says your eccentric at lest no one who stops by will be surprised if your strange.Image

I think it would either be a one room log cabin/iron age round house with a fireplace and then some outbuildings for my wood shop. Or a Irish Monk tower, with lots of levels.

Underground of both would be a secret "technology only" room with stuff the uses electricity.

my dream house would have 6 bedrooms,a kitchen, gym, pool, playground,a huge room with computers and art supplies,a library and a recroom. Also, a whole wall in the living room would be a gigantic fish tank. My bedroom would have a tv,computer,a waterbed and normal bed, a swing, bean bags, trampoline, and a spinning office chair.
my pool will be indoors and it will be built into a wall so a side of the pool could be see through, also there will be lights that slowly change color at the bottom. The gym will have normal gym stuff but with surround sound speakers so I can blast music.
6 bedrooms for guest and family members. I want a huge room with trampolines every were. I want 3 dogs, a bulldog, great Dane, and a chocolate lab. And a orange tabby cat,and a tortuouse.instead of stairs I want a slide going from floor to floor.

designing/drawing houses used to be one of my interests i probably drew 200+ houses.
I plan to build my own house out of bricks, and hope to have the house completely self sustaining.
I will begin in the center buy building a circular fire place with a chimney.
I don't think i want a really large house but i might build several buildings on my land. (once i obtain land)
Each building would serve its purpose, althought the main "house" will probably server three functions- kitchen/bedroom/bathroom.

I recently moved to a newer house in the country which is too large in my opinion, and there is too much land+ most of it is not flat. If i have a lot of land i would likely not have any plants but instead go for concrete/gravel or some other sort of ground. I don't see the need to waste time gardening....no offense to those who enjoy landscaping and or gardening.

I used to want to be an architect, but seems the job is not all its cracked up to be and i'd rather build my own house under my own paramaters...and if money wasn't an issue...then that would be bing pifuckio.

Also i would like to build atleast one spiral tower on my land....with no specific purpose....but i'd probably put a dome glass ceiling and windows all around at the top.

Building themes:
Training (weights/mma/hot and cold tub)
Experiments (sound/electronic/mechanic/otherwise....)
Music room/sound room
Computer building/construction site
Sauna(heat only)
Dog house (big house with lots of dogs)

And a Golf cart just because i'd like one to drive around my flat/concrete land with no plants

LAstly a basketball court opened but with a roof that can be removed at will.

My home would be a modest, two-bedroom, two-bathroom, one story little place, but it would be decorated to look and react like The Grid from Tron: Legacy. The backyard would be decorated like Greco-roman ruins, but with secret Christian elements hidden within.

40 acres with a half mile driveway. With wood burning boiler Satellite Internet, a shelter with air filtration scrubbers -- stock piles of food, etc. And make it Cape Cod architecture.

A house out in the middle of the woods somewhere, maybe in Vermont or Japan, but definitely in the mountains. Probably not a huge house, maybe 4ish bedrooms, maybe 5-6 if I wanted to be greedy and money was no object, in case I get married one of these days and have a family. I'd probably like it made of stone or bricks, with lots of rebar reenforcing everything. I'd like about a hundred acres of land, preferably as isolated as possible, as long as road access is reasonable. Actually, scratch the 5-6 bedroom idea, one time I visited this former religious retreat out in the woods here, and it was like 12 bedrooms or something crazy. That was my ideal house. It had so many rooms, and 2 floors, it was a nice simple house without flashy stuff in it, just HUGE and pretty much built like a tank. It had a sprinkler system in it, too, and a giant sprinkler tank, giant hot water heaters, it was a beastly house. But the former religious retreat had just this special charm to it, old signs with Bible verses and stuff, I just LOVED that house. It was really cheap, but had a lot of water damage from the roof caving in. Too bad really. The house also had sheds, chicken coops, and like an acre or two of land in addition, and it was out in a nice quiet secluded location near a river. Pretty ideal.

Let's see, to add ridiculous stuff to my house, I'd like my own steam turbine powered generator that runs off burning trash, be totally offgrid that way. That's actually not that ridiculous, really. But, to be even more ridiculous, I'd like an Olympic size ice skating rink to myself, in my yard, all year round. Oh, and at least one room in my house has to have cielings high enough for me to lift weights. And gas stoves and hot water heaters, hate electric stoves. What else for ridiculousness. I'd want a big satellite dish mounted really high, so I could aim it at buildings far away and use their wifi, I'd need a sorta powerful amplifier for that, too.

I think now I'm just getting ridiculous, I'll stop now.

Not 1 but several. I'd have 1 in the hills locally, in an established zone free from threats of fires and floods and where the wild animals can't be encroached upon

1 near the ocean

1 in the desert

A loft in a commercial area

I'd keep my toys spread amongst all locations and get multiples of the 'necessities'. I'd have to have a trailer or sidecar for my animals to accompany me to whatever spot I felt like staying at next

Mine would be partially buried under ground, but with windows to the outside, sort of like the houses the hobbits lived in in The Shire. It would also have steel plates that can rise from the ground at a moments notice to block off the windows and entrances in case of a siege coming about from a worldwide technological or societal collapse. Beneath it, would be a bunker where I could survive a nuclear war or tornado. It would also have to be on fairly high ground and not on a flood plain. As for a setting, it would be at least 200 miles from a major city and set on about 20 acres, complete with a fresh water source, woods and decent hunting. Since this is a fantasy, I would want it somewhere that had little to no property taxes so that my ability to survive did not depend on my ability work in order to pay taxes to the government. There would also have to be good soil and arable land to let me grow enough food to provide for me and anyone I let live with me. No smoking, drugs, big parties, pets or alcohol would be permitted on my property either as I like none of these things. However, animals raised for food or as beasts of burden would be there since they would make life easier. Electricity would be by way of a combination of solar and micro-hydro and waste water would be used to feed the garden. There would also be a large shop as part of the complex with wood working tools, machine tools, welding equipment, a hydraulic lift, frame straightener and a paint booth inside.

As for the living quarters, it would probably be a study in industrial design inside. Lots of stainless steel, concrete and durable materials like leather and wood would be used to furnish it. I'd have a large library of technical books to read as well as ones on Christian subjects. I would also have to have a good internet connection to feed my data addiction. The size of the actual living quarters would depend on how many people I had living with me. I don't need a lot of space, maybe 1,000 square feet if I were to live alone. What I would need though is spatial efficiency. This would mean planning and building items designed for dual use. Trap doors would be able to take certain furnishings beneath the floor in order to use the space for other purposes. Walls would not be permanent and would be able to be folded away if I were to choose to have family or friends over. This way, I can maximize the utility of the living quarters without having to build in a lot of square footage. It would help reduce the need for heating and cooling appliances and thus minimize the amount of total investment that would be spent on climate control. For the same reason, lighting would be by LEDs embedded in the walls and ceiling. This way, lighting would not take up valuable floor space that can then be used to keep the space more open feeling. Plus, it is also more energy efficient and thermally efficient to save even more on energy requirements.

I would also have a digester on site to turn animal and human solid wastes into fuel for my vehicles. This would require converting the vehicles over to natural gas using parts from companies like IMPCO, or buying something that comes that way from the factory like a natural gas Honda Civic. Then again, I could also build a vehicle to run off of wood gas (pyrolization) like they used to do during the 1920's-50's. (This was one of my obsessions that I researched extensively a few years ago). I could also try a biodiesel conversion on an old diesel VW Golf, but finding the raw material to make the fuel could prove difficult.

Funny enough, I used to pass my holidays at the seaside inside, drawing my dream house

Mine should have:
1) hardwood floor with a nice texture and no gaps, because people (especially me) should stay barefoot comfortably
2) noiseproof walls (also inside)
3) a room for books/musical instruments/stargazing in the attic
4) a craft room in the basement, ready for instantaneous creativity
5) at least 1 bathroom every 2 people living there
6) a laundry room with enough space to separate dirty clothes by color
7) a porch all around, with a rocking chair to read outside during summer evenings (because attics get too warm during summer)

:)

I would love a cottage type of house with a bedroom for my son, one for me another two guest rooms, a gym, a temple room and a huge kitchen with a servant quarter, a small study room and a store room
There should be a big garden with lots of flowers, a lotus pond, bird fountain, a swing, lots of huge flowering tree.
The interiors should be prominently indian rajasthani ethnic decor
The house should be a country place as i hate city life and the competitiveness and noise of city
Shopping complex should be close by though.
I would love to have pets cats and fishes...i don't like to keep birds in cages but would love to keep them in open probably i would breed pigeons etc.

For me, the house I have is difficult to beat. It is a 1 bedroom flat over a large workshop, all in an enclosed courtyard. The flat is big enough for me as I live on my own. Any more space would just get filled with more junk. The workshop could be bigger but I'd just end up buying more big expensive toys to fill it. The courtyard is great - I can close the gates and lock out the outside world if I wish. It has many of the advantages of living out of town with the advantages of living in town.
