A question
I have been in psych ward 5 times, ranging from 2 days to nearly 4 months. Mostly because of depression.
Most has already been said here. You get a nurse assigned to you that is meant to be there when you need to talk and to give you meds too. There is a routine to the day that usually starts with breakfast and medication, then you get a shower and dressed, then there may be a morning walk for those who are allowed out. Then the morning therapy sessions start. These can be art or exercise of some sort or group therapy where people talk about themselves if they feel up to it. Then there is lunch. Afterwards there are more therapy sessions like relaxation/meditation or you can play games. In between all this you might be called on to go and talk with the psychiatrist in charge of your case. Dinner is early (5pm) and afterwards there is free time and I usually spoke to my nurse at this time. Or I read or did artwork. This was all during the week. On the weekend it was less structured and some people went home or on day outings.
Once I did have a huge meltdown and threw a cup at a window. Nurses came and took me to a solitary room with just a mattress on the floor and told me to take some Ativan or else they would inject me. I took the pills, heh.
That doesn't sound so bad
