I do not know about helping me cope, but there are several songs that have often resonated with me about my life/situation at the time.

People are Strange- The Doors.
Riders On The Storm- The Doors.
Soul Kitchen. The Doors
(yes, Jim Morrison was a special interest of mine in the 1980s)

Satisfaction- The Rolling Stones
When the Levee Breaks. Led Zepplin
Red Car- The Trees.
Lunatic Fringe- Red Ryder
Paperback Writer- The Beatles.

I love classic rock, also Motown.

Sincerely,
Matthew

I love anything with a cello in it.

Could be the ideal aspie instrument even, I dunno.

Otherwise from my personal experience I have really learned to appreciate both pre and post awakening

John Prine 'Angel From Montgomery'- I learned to love this song when my ex left with my unborn son citing a litany of what I know now are aspie traits. This dude is the man.

Also Natalie Merchants 'carnival' is written about something completely different but thinking from an aspies perspective it is touching (lol) in a completely different way.

(edited for a more aspie friendly version)

And to end the post Yo Yo Ma plays the JS Bach Suite for Violincello Solo Number One Prelude (the whole score goes on for like 8 hours)

Alright heck, to get you a good idea of why I claim the cello to be the most wonderful instrument in the world.

A cellist auditions:

And what the heck the cello project explains their take on Astor Piazzola's 'Libertango'

You know what I take that all back watch the last one first,

Astor Piazzolas 'Libertango'.

You guys are driving me nuts.

While you are at it check Anderson and Roes four hand piano score for the same song 'libertango'.

The chello is rapidly rising in my mental list of favorite instruments because of the Piano Guys on youtube, they are more than amazing!

Beethoven's secrets is my favorite at this moment, so people (esp. Lumpia), check it out! You just feel the joy these people have playing their instruments, it cheers me up everytime.

Lumpia, that really was a great video for "Carnival" that you posted! Much better than the one I'd seen before! Thanks! (And thanks for the other suggestions, too.)

"The Winner" from Gundam 0083. For whatever reason, lots of anime songs I find help me, but this song's lyrics in particular are just...wow. I feel so dead on with them.
http://www.animelyrics.com/anime/gundam ... winner.htm English lyrics.

Quote:
I don't need kindness; I don't want it
I'll say it twice: I don't want it

The dream I sought is just an illusion now.
I can hear someone whispering in my mind. [1]
I don't need consolation; I don't want it
And I don't want false love either

This film clip is really funny and makes me laugh every time. It is also a bit of an " up yours" at judgemental society.
