I've never heard of T&G 2x4's. Usually it's T&G 1x6's if it's not plywood.
The inspector had never heard of it either. But you could clearly see in the plumbing cutouts that it was 1.5" thick (the 'actual' thickness of a modern 2x4).
They were certainly not 6" wide either.
I don't know what to say, aside from saying that I have built enough to know what a 2x4 looks like, and these were certainly T&G 2x4's. Why or how is another story.
