Actually, there have been links found between ASD and psychical traits.

"The Aspie-biology group contains various biological traits that are related to autism. These traits range from sensory issues to physical differences."
"Over 50% of people with schizophrenia are rhesus negative, and there are indications of similar frequencies in autism and Asperger."
"Aspie-quiz have found higher prevalence of red-hair color in autistic people. Red/auburn hair and fair skin are related to 3 mutations in MC1R (R151C, R160W and D294H)"
"Aspie-quiz have found higher prevalence of brown/hazel eye color in autistic people."
"There are quite a few studies that confirms a link between low IgA levels and autoimmune diseases, like Celiac Disease (CD). There are also studies that confirms many autistics have lower than normal IgA levels."

"Aspie physical traits

Do you have food intolerances?
Are you lefthanded or ambidextrious[sic]?
Do you have unusual eating patterns?
Do you have loose joints that have dislocated?
Are you flat-footed?
Do you have dandruff?
Do you have psoriasis?
Do you have odd teeth; e.g. teeth that are crooked or bigger than usual; gaps; overlaps; underbite etc.?
Are you shorter than what is normal for your gender?
Do you have a prominent bulge in the rear of your skull (occipital bun)?"
(citation numbers removed from quotes for clarity)

All quotes come from http://www.rdos.net/eng/asperger.htm (and yes, the paper is a theory on Autism being caused by Neanderthal genetic traits, however please do not dismiss the research if you don't believe the theory itself; the information on physical characteristics was obtained independently, and includes citations, most of which I've checked out, and they seem legit to me.)

Well I just think these ''ASD traits'' are just overestimated because when I look at an Aspie I don't see any physical differences but when I see a person with Down's Syndrome I know they have Down's Syndrome right away, by noticing their arms are slightly shorter for their bodies and their faces being that bit different to the general population. These physical differences are quite unique and don't show much on normal people. The physical traits listed here in the ASD thing could be found on anybody. Dandruff is common in a lot of teenagers. I know lots of people with asthma. I know a lot of overweight people. I only know very few people with perfect teeth.

The only thing I've seen in common in Autistics is glasses, more seem to wear glasses than don't, but I still wouldn't base that on a physical ASD trait because lots of non-Autistics wear glasses too. And with physical things like posture and ear sensitivites make more sense to be common in those on the spectrum, but silly things like ''oh I have a big toe, is it 'cos I have Aspergers?'' or ''oh I sneeze a lot, is it 'cos I have Aspergers?'' or, ''oh I am only 5 feet tall, is it 'cos I have Asperger's?'' And the answer is, no, it's just the way you are built as an individual. No two people are built the same, sorry to say.

Oh, and on a LOT of threads here I've read that more Aspies are taller for their age or gender. I'm 5 foot 5, so are a lot of other women.
So when physical traits are listed, they seem to change each time. When traits are listed for Down's Syndrome, they are the same traits listed every time. So you could tell that people are just trying to get people to believe that people on the spectrum are more different than what we really are.

Of course it's not always for a reason, but if questions aren't asked, research isn't done, and nobody knows yay or nay. Though to say there is nothing physically different just because it's not as obvious as downs or other conditions is like saying the sun ceases to exist at night simply because you no longer see it.

[Edit] Also just because it isn't *always* present doesn't mean there couldn't be a link; we all have different personality quirks and issues, after all.. It's a spectrum disorder, and that likely includes physical aspects. Downs is, as far as I am aware, not.

You do have the option to avoid threads about things you find irritating, of course.. :)

People are getting bigger feet in general.

I wear a size nine at 5ft 11, well for the shoes I am wearing a size 8, had to go a size down.

Well I normally do, but for some reason seeing Aspies have all these physical abnormalities just seems to disturb me. It causes paranoia because I start looking at everything on my body and wondering if it's all to do with Asperger's then worrying that I must physically look unusual when I go out in the street. Then I see NTs will all these listed here and then get confused and it just baffles me. I was proffessionally diagnosed when I was 8, and nobody ever said anything about physical abnormalities. The amount of doctors and psychiatrists I've seen through my life with AS have all said that AS is only a neurological condition and doesn't affect the body physically. Well, applying to Aspies who are born physically normal.

I know a 90-year-old man who used to do shoe shining when he was a teenager, and now he has a great grandson who does shoe shining, and he said that the people he used to shoe shine had much faller feet than the people who his great grandson shoe shines, and they grew up in the same area.

'EDIT' - I have size 5 feet by the way, which is actually average for a female. Most people I know have feet that are bigger than mine.

It might help you to think that statistically there might some of these physical problems in a group of aspies compared to NTs, this doesn't tell you anything at all about an individual. A very small proportion of people with autism (particularly LFA) have some other very unusual health problems. It's nothing you can generalise, but it is far more likely than in the general population.

I have very flat feet, size 11-12 (UK) and walk a bit odd.

Wide feet here too. :) I love my Danskos, the only shoes I can wear with any socks and not feel the seam because my toes are no where near the edge of the shoe.

US 13 extra wide.

Longer big toe.

IMHO consistent with being 6'4", 300lbs and well built.

I have high arches, and can see see muscles, all the way around.

Of which I am aware, my feet are not anomalous, although somewhat battered from doing hard labor barefoot.

I might be able to accommodate the heat, if I take off my shirt. Gets 100F in the field.

I have a normal size foot for a woman, size 8. The problems with I have with my feet are flat feet and my feet are a bit too wide so some shoes don't fit my feet properly even though it's the right size. I don't have anything really out of the ordinary though.

My feet are quite long and look like someone put fingers on them instead of toes. I wear a size 12.5 wide, which is usually next to impossible to find in my region, so I have to either go elsewhere (a two-hour drive) or online.

My feet are just plain huge. I'm 5'11" (was 6' until my late 30s), and I wear size 15E or even EE. It's a handicap sometimes, because I have to go up & down some smaller stairs with my feet at 45 degrees to the side, or only my toes are on the steps, which is a fall risk. And I can't drive certain cars, as my feet get caught between the gas & brake pedals, and worst in 1990s Nissans, my right foot gets jammed under the dashboard with the gas pedal down 8O !

I have a friend who is over 7' tall, and his feet are smaller than mine.
