Who else is entertained by doing non-aspie things?

Define "non" aspie? I like to garden, read literature, wash my hair, jog (at night). I typically give all things I do a special "aspie" touch, if you could call it that.

I believe the OP was referring to activites that are famously known to be things that aspies tend to avoid.

For example, standing on a crowded city square with a sign saying 'Free Hugs' around your neck.

At least, that's the vibe I get from teh original post.

I saw the title of this thread, and I knew that "going to a bar/club" would be one of the first things mentioned for some reason.

Seriously though they're all right for an hour or so especially if there's live music.

Didn't the infamous Christian Weston Chandler do something in this vein, with a sign?

Its really hard to think up something specifically NT, I mean..you could say sports but there are plenty of aspies who obsess over it, my dad plays fantasy football even and has a notepad for his work. Going to clubs seems pretty NT to me but I think some of the people in the adult thread admitted to clubbing or going to raves. Going to a bar strikes me as a very NT activity, but then again, you could just go to a corner, get a drink and avoid talking to anyone. I had to go to one once for a concert my cousin's husband had and all I did was drink myself into oblivion then settle in a corner. Well, I did hug a few people when I was sufficiently intoxicated.

There are a lot of activities that strike me as NT-ish yet people here probably obsess over them. Everything is potentially nerdy, even sex. You can make it into this crazy ritual where you dress up, do weird off the wall things, roleplay and etc. Sports can be nerdy, going out to a bar because you are a connoisseur of spirits can be nerdy.

To me the epitome of NT-ness would probably be a dude going to a bar to drink some beer then using PUA (pick up artist) tactics to pick up some girl. They have sex, she goes home and he flips the tv on to watch ESPN for the sake of having noise on. I don't really judge people very much as "NT" because I think everyone is a little off, but I think maybe the really boring derp-a-lerp types are probably as close to NT as possible. Really..I think being a true NT is more atypical than being an aspie. Maybe I just don't get out enough.

I see the activity of carousing around through beers or dance clubs doing drugs to be very NTish but you can't fault people for wanting to blow off steam. I consider just sitting in front of the tv watching it for no reason other than "because" to be a very NT behavior. You know, when someone watches Jersey Shore not because they like it all but just because other people watch it and its on. Picking to get into any music, culture or tv show because magazines say its the in thing and its not something that personally resonates with you is very NT to me. LOTS of people I know do it. I look on facebook at music people like and see nothing but top 40 bands or whatever it popular.

Then again, these traits are more "shallow" and "superficial" than NT. Autism is so broad its really hard to say whats NT or not. Maybe what's NT for one aspie isn't for another.
