I lot of people do. My NT cousin has to take the soluble tablets because she can't swallow them.

I can't swallow the big ones. I can swallow the contraceptive pill because it's only very small, but I can only swallow it down with a drink, not with food. The reason being is if it didn't go down well (which sometimes it doesn't always) I can still take more drink and wash it down quick without anything getting clogged in my throat.

With pain-killers I just chew them. I know they taste horrible but I either hold my nose whilst chewing them or get a very sweet drink handy, like coke or something, to wash the taste away.

I have no problem swallowing pills. I can even take many pills without anything to drink, even big ones.

I don't think that applies. Swallowing a big hard pill is different than swallowing mushy chewed food.

I don't know why the doctor was such an ass about it. They do make liquid versions of medications. What would he have had my mother do instead, shut up and have him prescribe pills that wouldn't get taken because I couldn't swallow them?

Although I'm better about it now I can't do big ones or without something to drink.

I still have a lot of trouble remembering to take pills or nonpill things. I can't even remember to take my vitamins.

Is it just me, or do other Aspie's have a hard time swallowing pills? I'm really awful about it.

I have a terrible time swallowing pills. Some pills such as some brands of Vitamin C, I have to crush in my mouth before I take them. Others I have to crush in a spoon with honey or chocolalte syrup. But the ones I take whole I have to swish around in my mouth with coffee for several seconds before I swallow them.

 The gag complex would kick in really quick if I did that. In my case I would really be asking for trouble.

I don't gag, I just have a hard time getting them down, it's like my body decided that when the pill is halfway down that it doesn't want it anymore and stops swallowing effectively. I'm afraid I might choke on them.

I'd take liquid but I absolutely can't stand liquid forms, they do set off my gag reflex.

I'm taking Wellbutrin right now(on trial) they aren't too big
but I've also been trying Vicodin(for wisdom tooth pain) which hasn't done a darn thing so I'm not taking it anymore, anyway they're pretty big tablets, so it's harder to get them down

If your pills stick halfway down they are probably below your gag reflex and below where you breath. Some meds can cause the kind of problem you are having. I don't take anymore meds than I have too and if it is a toothache I might take a couple of Advils which are quite effective. I refuse to take Vicodin and have never taken prescription drugs for toothaches for that matter. All of my wisdom teeth are now gone plus some molars. The last molar I had pulled I didn't take any kind of pain killer. So have you thought about just taking a couple of Advils (Ibuprofen)? Advil is very good for relieving tooth pain and it is easy to take.

I just toss pills into my mouth, and go "gulp", and theyre gone!

Have always shocked and appalled folks with my ability to swallow pills without even wanting to chase the pills with a glass of water.

So its definelty not an aspie trait.

My pills are pretty small, and I can swallow them no problem. But for a short while I was on a really huge pill that wasn't slippery at all either and I choked on it most of the time.

I need liquid to swallow any pill at all, but the hardest thing for me is not dropping the dang things.

When I was little I was supposed to take Ritalin but it hardly ever made it from my hand to my mouth without getting dropped into the water fountain and washed away down the drain.

yeah I only tried Vicodin because NONE of the over the counter stuff worked, nor Lidocane(succeeded in numbing ONLY my tongue), and Tylonal 3 didn't work either

none of the over the counter stuff, or Tylonal 3, or Vicodin has helped with pain, no mater where or what kind of pain it is, nothing has had any effect :(

You don't mention Advil. Even some docs that pull teeth prescribe Advil. But I buy over the counter Advil. Tylenol 3 is worthless. So have you really tried everything?
