Do babies give you weird looks?

Babies and small children are watchful little people. They watch people to gauge how they should react to them and if they seem safe.
I think that with our tendency to have very "flat" body language, they don't have anything to react to, so they just keep watching.

A good way to amuse yourself in a queue with a baby in front of you is to pull faces and watch it imitate you.

Hey yeah, this happens to me too. If I remember correctly from undergrad psych, babies 'attend' to things they find novel, so maybe it does have to do with behaving just 'off' enough for them to pick up.

Once I was having breakfast at a restaraunt and this 9 month old was looking at me from the highchair a couple of tables over. So I smiled and waved a little and went back to eating, but he just kept staring and staring, until the parents not only noticed, but had to pick the child up and turn him away from me so he'd stop staring - and he still twisted himself around to look at me. I don't know who was more mortified, me or the parents

BTW I only have had two babies smile or want to play with me out of all the babies I have seen in my life, and I've obviously seen a lot and they've seen me.

I've never thought of it having anything to do with my autism before, but I do almost always get stared at (weird looks?) from babies, and small children in general.

Wow, this is creepy. I always thought I was kind of a "baby magnet", because whenever there's a baby in reach, it's sure to stare at me. Most of the time they look really concentrated and interested. I always thought this was pretty cool.

This one baby gives me the eyeball...I think he's onto me...

As for babies - I suppose it is a natural reaction of curiosity. It is completely innocent, except that the yee contact freaks me out.

babies do wave at me as though they like me, but i know they do not know who i am, and that makes babies very cute in that way.
i always wave back at babies, but i must continue to be on my way.

Babies check out everybody, not just the OP.

Even young animals do that.

When our cat was a youngin' she used to study my body parts when I talked- her eyes darting around following my gesticulating hands because of her fascination with how humans are put together, and work.

I have never known a baby to not give a strange look or expression in general. With that said, yes: babies always give me strange looks and even seem terrified of me for some odd reason. The same goes for children (they think I'm going to devour them or I'm an alien) and even fellow adults.

Babies tend to stop crying around me and seem unusually calm around me but still I'm uncomfortable around them. Kids under the age of maybe 10-12 usually love me unless their adults have ostracized me. However, teens not so much!!

Babies tend to calm down around me. It must be my baby face. I also love being around them, as well.

That's my experience as well. I always like to joke that they take one look at me and think "hey, you know on second thought my life isn't so bad after all!"Babies usually go from crying to laughing within seconds when they see me! As for kids, I find the same thing to. The only ones who don't love me are because the parent's don't and fill their kids heads with BS.
