I have HFA and I'm nearsighted. I use glasses to read distant stuff like things on whiteboards, or while reading, so that I don't need to have my face as close to the book.

I'm nearsighted in my right eye. It's so bad, I can barely even read things up close, let alone far away.

The other eye is normal.

I was diagnosed as nearsighted for a couple of years in grade school (2nd-3rd grade), but it went away fairly quickly.

About 10 years ago, my vision measured as twice as sharp as 20/20, which is to say close up vision was normal but I could see things at 40 feet as if they were at 20 feet. I don't know what the word for that is, except maybe acute vision.

Now I'm in my 40s, and my close up vision still appears to be pretty normal (although I should have it checked just to be sure), and I can still see things fairly far away.

I've never heard of being farsighted relating to autism/ aspergers. I was diagnosed just before my third birthday, and have had to wear quite strong glasses since then.
I've had eye tests done every few years or so, but my eyes have never changed/ gotten better.

I'm nearsighted and have astigmatism in one eye. My aspie bf has better than 20/20 vision.

I'm very far-sighted, about -10 diopters, and -2.5 diopters astigmatism.
I got my glasses in kindergarden, and already then it was about -3 or so. Remember that I sat close to the television before then, and at the time people still thought that it was the course of the far-sightedness.

Hated my glasses in kindergarden, because the other kids bullied me because of them. I just wanted to do my own things, and not get any attention from them. For a long time, I "forgot" my glasses if I could.

My brother has got infantile autism, but his eyesight is more or less perfect.

According to WP, everything's an AS trait.

Yeah, you can edit or delete your post within a week or something.

Just click on the "edit" button at the top right corner of the post you want to change.

Yup.

But, for the record, I am farsighted and have worn glasses since I was 7 or 8.

That's correct - or to be pedantic: 6.94375 days, which is the 9999-minute window after posting when edits can be made before becoming permanent.

Post deletions - an actual post removal - are only allowed when your post is the last on the thread and in that case, a small "x" button will be visible in the top right corner of the post's display panel.
To remove post content, where a post removal is not possible, people generally edit the text to say just "..." or "deleted".

Do you think if I started a thread asking if reading forums was an AS trait it'd go anywhere?

Farsightedness is very common in most people over the age of 45, but maybe you mean farsightedness is more common in people on the spectrum through childhood and young adulthood? Because admittedly every young Aspie I have met in person or seen on the telly or spoken to on internet forums like this all seem to wear glasses. I don't need to permanently wear glasses, although I have got a pair for driving because some writing far away can be a bit blurry until I get near.

That makes more sense to be an AS trait.

Unless these sorts of question mean ''just because it's an AS trait doesn't mean NTs do the opposite''. It's a bit like saying ''it is common in people with a mild case of AS to desire friendships'', that then doesn't mean ''which means NTs hate to have friendships''. (Not getting at anybody here, just trying to teach myself).
