Yeah, I do. :) The repetitive motion is rather nice to look at.

I liked The Terminator, because he was a person/machine who always did the same thing. Plus, he could smash walls :D

I like to watch machines and hear machine noises and make machine noises.

It depends on what it is. Some mechanical devices I can take or leave, others are quite fascinating...

I love machines! There's just something calming about the logic of it all. You can look at them and see why they do what they do, unlike people. I like fixing old machinery to use it in my every day life. All of my lawn equipment (except the weed whacker) is stuff I have pulled from the garbage and gotten to work properly again. My car cost me less than $300 and I then went through every system until I got all of it working again. I even have a vacuum cleaner and sewing machine that I resurrected and brought back to life. In fact, I just came back from the thrift store and it was all I could do to stop myself from bringing home another vintage sewing machine or vacuum cleaner. (I have instituted a zero population growth policy to stop myself from hoarding/mis-allocating resources.)

I'll also ask, am I the only person here who is in love with "How It's Made"? I could watch that show for days!

I was always more fascinated by Meccano than Lego, because you could assemble cogs, and gears, and hoists and stuff. And then you could make it all turn.

Plus you got to use all those great miniature tools.

I had an erector set (wish I still had it) - the Lab Pet is a mechanically inclined female.

I dunno what set mine was. There was loads of it, though.

Somebody dumped it on me in the 70's.

Your Avatar reminds me of somehing from Portal 2, for some reason.

Yes.

I have a distinct memory from Elementary school where a photocopier going made me almost instantly go into a trance. It was one of the most soothing sounds I had ever heard.

I can't stand certain mechanical noises, like belt-sanders or painfully loud planers. but I do like "softer" sounds, like chainsaws (if that makes sense), printers putting out paper, and computer start-up noises, or old modems connecting to the internet when they make that Matrix-sounded buzzing noise.

*BBBZZRREEEE.........BEEP BEEP DING DING DAAAAUUUGGGHHH!! !!*

...Something like that.

Oh yes, the monotony of it is extremely relaxing, I can sit for long periods just watching something that does the same thing over and over again. It's almost like a different level of sleep, when I "wake" up from it, I feel almost re-energized as though I've just slept for several hours.

Though I don't believe it is strictly limited to those on the spectrum.

I took mine apart.

This one is direct drive and I was really interested in how the motor can torque the spin basket without a reduction of some sort.

The answer lies in the diameter of the stator. 8)

As per Lab Pet I must have AS.
