For adults how did you tell your family abt Aspie diagnosis?
I was diagnosed by a clinical psychologist who specializes in Asd.
My mum doesn't believe it. Insists I have social anxiety, GAD, and depression.
Gave her a copy of tony attwoods book, with the bits that apply to me underlined, and she says he is a quack and insists I go see a psychiatrist of her choosing.
Every psychiatrist I've seen charges $300 per hour and always insists on putting me on medication. The last idiot said he didn't know much about aspergers but he knew that I didn't have it. "here have some zombie medication with a million side effects, but won't actually do anything to help."
Unfortunately both my parents have their own mental problems and are under the delusion that they are normal. My mum can't see that she is married to someone with aspergers or at least many traits of an Asd. Sigh.
