I have no problems driving, and easily passed both portions of the test. I've never had any tickets or accidents, and as a result, my insurance premiums have consistently gone down. The only thing is that I need to wear glasses, as I wouldn't have passed the vision test without them. Then again, it's a genetic thing as most of my family members, including the NT's have to wear glasses in order to drive.

I am learning my driving theory right now but I've actually been postponing it for years. I'm really frightened of driving, I did it twice and I did okay but I was trembling the entire time. Even the theory makes me rather nervous, I know that when I pass the next step will be to get into a car.

Have no problems driving, just backing up! lol also keeping up with registrations, tickets paid on time if I get them (never a speeding ticket, always parking tickets), and all the paperwork and maintenance stuff to keep track of are the only challenges for me.

QFT, man. QFT.

I think my years of gaming were actually really good practice for real world driving. I just put on music (less distracting than playing lyrics in my head like I do constantly) and get into the mindset of the control scheme. It can be fun. Of course, the biggest problem with driving is that most drivers are just idiots. I can lean on gaming for that too: NPC AI can be just as stupid xd

It took me over 200 lessons to pass my test (could probably have bought a car with what it cost me!). I went through 3 driving instructors before I found one that explained it in a way that made sense to me. When I have to drive somewhere, I get really stressed beforehand, and no-one can talk to me when I'm in that state. I take the danger of the roads very literally and it makes me really tense, I also don't like the chaos of the business of all the traffic. I can only follow routes I know (and may have been driven beforehand so that I know them) and really panic about getting lost. I find driving really scary.

I failed my first test because I was so anxious, and I think the reason I managed to pass my 2nd test was because the instructor was really stroppy and it made me so angry, that I thought "right, I'll show you" and it overtook my anxiety.

I like to think that I am an above average driver (don't we all?). But I can get distracted very easily. When I am in the car there is no radio and I prefer not to talk for the most part. When I am driving, I'm driving... nothing else. I refuse to drive anyone who does not respect this.

I had trouble with my driving instructor because a lot of what he told was contrary to what I had been taught as a car savant. Steering technique, braking technique, seating position, lane discipline (he didn't get this concept) etc... was different from what I had learned and practiced on play station. I believe that Play station has helped me a lot. With a steering wheel and Gran Turismo the dynamics are realistic and they build good muscle memory and reactions plus it teaches you where to look and to plan ahead.

I had a close call the other day because I was confused about directions and foolishly took a left at the last moment on a whim. I have no sense of direction without a map. I got lost going to the local library the other day.

My son is 17 he is on his 3rd time driving with instructor, he needs 6 altogether. He passed written test, no problem, like many of you he is terrified about the unpredictability of driving. His instructor, knows him from school and is concerned especially since he has to have 2 interstate drives! My son broke down yesterday after drive when we got home, I've seen him cry 3 times in his life! He said he is so anxious while driving its everything he can do just to get through it. His reaction to sudden situations is not good he freezes. He says video games are easy because he memorized every move, and knows what to expect. I feel awful how can I help him?

I was lucky enough to get a job where I could walk to work and buy groceries--I didn't start driving until I was 25. You might consider moving to a city where driving isn't really practical. Another option is to get around on an adult tricycle, such as the Schwinn Town and Country. While a tricycle doesn't work so well on cambered roads, they are great on flat surfaces--no need to worry about balancing.

When I was learning I wasn't doing very well, then my mother intervened and took me straight through the middle of a school run, which meant I lost it completely.. On the next test, since it wasn't nearly as stressful as that, I passed.

I like driving because it's isolation - get on a quiet road at 3am with nobody about just drive around. The car is 'mine' and nobody ever goes there except me.

I've learned the hard way not to use satnavs - they stress me out *so* much by going places I didn't expect, giving ambiguous instrutions, etc. I just end up going postal at them.

I've had 9 years of safe driving and am extremely anal about most rules. I will speed but only where explicitly safe. It has been a problem for me when dealing with insurance when I was hit and run on my motorcycle and the agent became suspicious that I hadn't actually hit another car. Otherwise, I find that aside from bright lights at night and becoming frustrated with people shirking rules I am an impeccable driver.
