Modern culture is dominated by ADD behaviors. It's not that your answers aren't short enough, but that there are too many other things the audience is worrying about.

Problem is, society has become so complex that individual issues no longer have time to be explained at PROPER length. And on top of that, no one wants to hear it to the point of it being considered rude. Extensive marketing has forced people to fill bits of time with extra things and thoughts, most of which aren't really necessary.

When "doing before you think" stops making money for big companies, cultural changes won't be far behind...

I agree with you, SM. I too think people "don't have time" anymore to hear the whole story, but then they act on assumptions of what they didn't hear and get things wrong.

Furthermore, they assume that you are being argumentative when you try to abound with information.

Argumentative or perhaps pompous and "likes the sound of his/her own voice".

Now that you mention it, I think there's something like that, maybe they think I'm being defensive...

Sure, pompous is a great word to summarize with!

... And don't get me wrong - I'm proud of a lot of things, but I don't particularly like the sound of my own voice, either. So how should I expect anyone else to?

I also get accused of being argumentative and defensive when I'm not trying to.......I'm simply trying to discuss a topic and give information regarding it. Sometimes I have an opinion contrary to what others have said and I will say what my opinion is and why I think that (give evidence to support my point of view in a way) that's what I'm doing from my perspective. From my family members point of view I'm being argumentative. As I said in another post on this thread I also have trouble being concise and am often told I'm giving "too much information" when just describing a book or something. I never thought of the two things as related before but maybe people think you're trying to argue if you go on too long but you're really just trying to give a complete detailed response.
