Aspies and personality disorder

Hmm if I had a personality disorder I think something like avoident or schizotypal personality disorder would be more likely than narcissistic or anti-social Personality disorder. Anti Social PD is the closest one to what is more commonly known as psychopathic(at least in the DSM) but I kind of hate that term because its over-used in so many movies and to me its lost its accuracy and can refer to more than just anti-social PD.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fourth edition (DSM IV-TR), defines antisocial personality disorder (in Axis II Cluster B) as:[1]
A) There is a pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others occurring since age 15 years, as indicated by three or more of the following:
failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest;
deception, as indicated by repeatedly lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure;
impulsiveness or failure to plan ahead;
irritability and aggressiveness, as indicated by repeated physical fights or assaults;
reckless disregard for safety of self or others;
consistent irresponsibility, as indicated by repeated failure to sustain consistent work behavior or honor financial obligations;
lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another;
B) The individual is at least age 18 years.
C) There is evidence of conduct disorder with onset before age 15 years.
D) The occurrence of antisocial behavior is not exclusively during the course of schizophrenia or a manic episode.

I'm sure a lot of people on this forum could meet 3 of the criteria from A as well as B,C,D. One of the features of conduct disorder is severe executive function problems. I think the context is important, for example- Noises can make an aspie irritable and aggressive and can lead to violent behavior. Impulsiveness or failure to plan.... Ummmm. "consistent irresponsibility, as indicated by repeated failure to sustain consistent work behavior or honor financial obligations", sounds familiar. In the past I think quite a few people on the spectrum were diagnosed with conduct disorder and AsPD. In the present I think people still are, I mean psychologists are still misdiagnosing AS as ADHD today.

ADHD is one of those highly popular diagnoses. With those disorders it is allways best to ask for a second opinion to be sure.
I also was once missdiagnosed as having ADHD, what I don't understand at all, because I wanted to know just a fiew days ago if it's possible. Because I have some concentrationproblems, but those are through depression.
So I took 3 ADHD-tests, on one I had higher scores but on the other two I was average and thought all the time during the tests: "wtf those aren't my problems, how can someone even think that?"
So a lot of things really just look simmilar on the outside but do have in fact different reasons.
But I even believe now, that most people notice very exactly when a diagnosis fits or if we have some tendencies and so on.

I can see somebody on the Spectrum as being Schizoid (which is IMHO just a person with AS/HFA who is happy with how they are. not wanting help etc.) or maybe Borderline which is a wastebasket DX anyway.
BTW, most Lay people assume Psychopath=Homocidal psychotic, not Anti-social Personality Disoder. Sociopath is a better term.
Sincerely,
Matthew

Competive, hating to lose, charming, and thinking highly of yourself;
I don't see why you would refer to these as problems.
These are just normal traits of healthy self esteem.
They do not indicate any sort of mental disorder.
Now if you find yourself skinning cats alive and raping hookers then you may have a problem.
Anyways most people with autistic spectrum disorders will score high on personality disorder tests.
Aspergers was formerlly called "autistic psychopathy"
