haha! Yeah I always make my husband order for me. Oh and I know this doesn't have to do with drive thrus but coffee houses are the worse. I get so confused on what I want, I never know what's what and if I'll like it. I usually end up getting something that tastes bad just because I wanted to try something new. That's one area I'm adventrous in, trying new food/drinks. Andrew Zimmerman and Anthony bordain are my heroes! Haha

I used to fear the drive-thru as well, but once I got accustomed to it, I came to prefer it over going inside.

Actually, by going inside, you are causing service to slow down. In effect, you end up causing the very thing you were trying to prevent. :)

It's not so much that I fear it, it's because I hate drive-thrus. Why? Because they more often than not screw up what I order. How many times do I say "No mustard, mayo, or pickles on my burger please" only to find out as I drive away and am now at home to see that my burger has exactly what I did not ask for on it. Man I hate drive thrus. The only place that I could possibly get my drive thru order correct is Tim Horton's.

I think they're great, you don't have to see anybody's ugly face until they hand you your food. They also seem to prioritize drive-thru customers over dining room customers, so you get your food faster. They also seem to get my order wrong less frequently through the drive through for whatever reason.

You've never seen a bank with a drive-thru? And that makes you say wtf and not all the other not-normal things people say on here? It doesn't exactly strike me as a life-destroying handicap.

I used to detest drive throughs. HATE them. I hated them for several reasons, let me enumerate them here:
1) I am ridiculously short. As a result I have a hard time reaching things like the drive by atm (have to open my door and get out of my car to use it) give my money to the drive through person, or even reach the food when it comes out.

2) They always get it wrong. They forget the catsup or miss part of the order entirely.

3) Easy to scuff or dent your car. Especially if you are short...

4) Too much pressure.

But then I had kids. And kids are a mess to get in and out of cars, expecially when they're little. Then you get them inside and they go nuts, especially if oe of them has aspergers, then maybe they have a meltdown or something. When I had kids I learned to quit worrying and love the drive through.

I pull in as close as humanly possible and I always work out what I want (or if it s a bank drive through, my deposit slip etc..) ahead of time. If I am not familiar with the menu, I look it up on my smart phone and figure it out before getting in line. Then when I get my food, minimall, I paw through the bag and make sure the items are all there before pulling away. I don't know if they are right, but at least they are there...

I see you are from New Zealand. You may be correct about banks in New Zealand, but in the United States, drive-thrus at banks are very popular.

The last time I was in a bank with no drive-thru, at least not one that I knew of, was about twenty years ago. That particular bank was a bank for large businesses that required a deposit of something like $100,000 just to open an account. And that was twenty years ago.

The last time I was in a bank that catered to smaller businesses and individuals with normal accounts that didn't have a drive-thru may have been when I was in high school.

I don't really have any fears of such, even when I am driving. But then again, I usually like to eat in the restaurant, if anything.

There is a bank with a drive-thru in the town I live in. Also, a fear of drive-thrus might seem a bit unusual, but "WTF?" is a negative over-reaction.

I wouldn't want to order in a drive through and never have. I don't drive, plus I might have trouble understanding them through the little speaker. I think this might be somewhat related to my not liking to talk on the phone. I don't even like to order inside that much but sometimes I manage to.

They have drive throughs at banks here. I never used one because I don't drive and don't have a bank account. I've heard people wonder before about why there is braille on the bank machine in the drive through. Blind people aren't going to drive through and use it.

This link explains why.

I can never understand what they're saying over the speaker. It's the same issue I have with phones.

Plus I don't usually eat fast food anyway.

i was just having a conversation with my housemate about this topic yesterday! he wanted me to go through a drive through and i tried to explain to him that i don't like drive throughs. he was frustrated with me saying that i only say that because i don't want the food they have there. i finally had to explain that it is not the food, but that i would not mind going there and walking in to get the food. i think he understood, but i'm pretty sure that next time the subject of hamburgers comes up, i'll have to repeat the scenario with him.
it's nice to see that i'm not the only person who feels the same about the drive through!!
