Please do what's best for your health first. One thing at a time. I'm praying that you will use your will power to improve your situation. Easy to say, I know. Sorry for not being able to give you practical help. I'm thinking of you from a foreign country.

...You have to show/present a family member you will meet/stay with for that program , (and incidentally , they apparently don't give you even food money for a bus ticket - If I went East Coast-ward or even Texas , what , several days foodlss on that theory ??? ) .
I've had " walking around " blood sugar levels into the 500s - seriously  :( .

Hi ASS-P, i am sorry to hear about your predicament (i know that is putting it lightly).

Do you know how to fish or hunt?
If you can, you could likely just find land that isn't patrolled to squat on and set up a homestead out of an old cabin or abandoned house even.

I live down south (Southern East Coast) and there are alot of folks who squat in trailers. Some the trailers may be in the woods.
A lot are in disrepair (original owners don't care to check them out i guess) so people will live in them.
I have seen a lot of families have to leave due to living near populated areas with snitches, however if it's far enough in the woods or away
from others, it should last a bit.

A family lived near to my friends trailer for at least a year before the police busted them for meth.

Also Southern states are warmer in general.

Now if one gets into jail (prison is only if your sentenced to over a year)
You do get free health care while in there. There was actually a story about a man who had to back to jail to get a major operation since he had no insurance to afford it.

I would try not to get a felony as those don't keep a clean record, yet misdeanmors can do.

It sounds crazy, yet this can all be googled.
Prisoners get better health care than civilians.

Also where you live, did you try Craigslist to see if maybe you could find a job in exchange for rent/board?

If you can hunt & fish you really have it made, just travel and life off the land

Only in fairytales. Even if Walden Pond still existed today, it would not be possible in this case. The medical issues alone would prevent it.

Being homeless at middle age is not the same as a weekend camping trip when you're young and healthy. I've been camping. I took the car to the campsite. I had a tent and equipement. I had food specifically acquired for the adventure. I was healthy and had never known real hunger. It was summer. I didn't have cops harassing me and throwing away my gear. And at the end of the weekend, I went home and took a bath.

No, they do not. I don't know what kind of urban legends you've heard. In the real world, the care is certainly no better than charity care, which is usually pretty dismal. (At best, on the outside, you get what you pay for.) Jails routinely give the wrong medicine, claiming it's just as good when everyone knows it's not, and they often deny medical care as punishment whenever they think they can get away with it. In his case, there's no chance at all for protection. He can't even get a lawyer for his thieving cousin story, for which a lawyer might imagine being paid.

If only life were so easy. If he could do that, he wouldn't be having these problems.

Notice to friends of “ASS-P”

He is now in jail.

He said he was picked up on Thursday with all his stuff dumped by the cops (or they said they would). He also needs money to be put on his books.
They did not offer him a free phone call, by the way…

He may be in for a week or two, he suggested, because he hopes to get some medical care there---optimistic guy!

He was supposed to go to court Monday or Tuesday morning, I don’t know how that went, and I think his next court date is Friday.

I found a snail-mail address. Please let me know if anyone wants it. I'm sure he would like to hear from people.
Don't bother sending a link, as I doubt that he has access to a computer right now.

Another way to send him a message would be to post it here and I can cut-and-paste it to what I send him.
