I don't know if this is universally common, Aspie-specific or just me but, whenever I hear an emery board used the sound just freaks me out completely and I have to run out of the room. I have slight sensitivity to some other sounds like hoovers and hairdryers but nothing like this. My wife must think I am crazy but if she starts to file her nails I have to loudly insist she stops immediately or else just bolt to somewhere outside of earshot.

The nails on the blackboard thing is not pleasant but much more bareable by comparison.

Who else experiences this? Is it an AS sensitivity issue do you think?

I am similarly sensitive to emery boards and other files. It literally hurts my ears. I mean, physical pain.
