Ugh. So here I am again, at 1:45 am. I tried some relaxation techniques today, shortly before sleeping. I even felt like I might be able to fall asleep easier tonight. But no, I lie down and immediately all I can focus on are the faint sounds of talking from the next room. And BAM adrenaline rush.

I even moved to the kitchen, to sleep on the couch there. Well it was quieter but I was too alert already. My heart is pounding, and I feel the usual agression. So here I sit wasting time until maybe it's quiet or sun rises. :?

I know that things will get better again as soon as his, uh, very NICE girlfriend is gone again (3-4 more days to bear), because if she's not here he won't have anyone to talk to at night, and it used to be quiet earlier when she wasn't here yet. I guess tomorrow I'll very kindly ask him to be quiet after midnight. Not while his girlfriend is anywhere close though. She probably won't care either way.

But seriously, I need to get a therapy of some sorts. Or medicine. Or any kind of help. The only other way would be to move into a little house in the middle of some forsaken woods. And that would be too scary.

i had this problem too, it happens often that i stay wake up for more than 24 hours, sometimes passing 30 hours, cause i could not find the perfect time where theres no noise at all. since im in my second home, there are some noises like barking- thats the worst for me, loudly talking, mhe maid of my neightbor doing cleaning. slaming doors, there are so much, so much noise that afects me and people dont even notice if i tell then because they are focused on their own stuff and their sound filter works good. i look at my father or mother and they dont give a simple @$%% about the noises. they dont look anoyed at all. its only me. sigh

to sleep with noise it must be minor noise and i must be extremely tired and exhausted. thats no healthy at all.

I have to wear headphones the majority of the time or I become almost non-functioning if a noise disturbs me, even slight noises cave and crumple my whole face in, when I got sick of being beaten down by daily meltdowns I tried wearing earplugs but they did not provide the right barricade of dimming that I find salvation in.

I have this problem too. Rain, wind, thunder, even traffic going past outside is fine (I find it comforting), but if I hear someone's tv or whatever then I can't sleep.

If I'm watching tv after 10pm I turn it down and use subtitles (I used to use headphones but they hurt my ears). I think it would be perfectly reasonable to ask your neighbour to do something similar. They probably know how thin the walls are too, but maybe haven't realised quite how easily the sound travels.

It's quite funny actually. I need to watch some sort of video to fall asleep. I don't want it to be boring, but I don't want it to be TOO entertaining. Something technical, so I'm interested in it but it's not active and having my heart racing. I can't really fall asleep by just going to bed. Also, I HIGHLY recommend melatonin supplements. They do the trick almost immediately for me, and knock me out for a solid 8 hours and everything after that is a bonus if I have the time.

im taking medicine for a few weeks now. its a medicine for depression and mania, i noticed that when i hear the noises now i still feel stressed but i dont feel to raise of my chair and try to find the source of the noise. it still really irritate me but if i focus i can sleep. unless its barking because i have huge phobia of barking.

Anyone can "ask" anyone to do anything

He does not have to do what you ask him to do

If you ask, he  might do what you ask. :D He might ignore you. He  might purposely act worse, to take out revenge

Check to see if the building you live in has rules about your situation

Otherwise take sleeping meds
