Dear John Pugh,

from the Wealth of the Nations:

"The reward of the schoolmaster, in most cases, depends principally, in
some cases almost
entirely, upon the fees or honoraries of his scholars. Schools have
no exclusive privileges. In order to obtain the honours of graduation,
it is not necessary that a person should bring a certificate of
his having studied a certain number of years at a public school. If,
upon examination, he appears to understand what is taught there,
no questions are asked about the place where he learnt it."

I'm currently diagnosed with Asperger's (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asperger_syndrome )ADHD(
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attention_ ... y_disorder
) and schizoaffective disorder (
http://www.sentiens.com/Psychosis/Psych ... hosis.html )

I’ve been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder even though I have no
family history of mental illness and schizoaffective is genetic
( http://www.schizophrenia.com/sznews/arc ... 00663.html
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20 ... 070437.htm )
I’m currently going through the NHS complaints process in relation to
misdiagnosis.

Because of my Asperger’s my medical records state that I should be
treated symptomatically, which means that everything is off-label since
drugs are licensed for conditions not for symptoms.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Off-label_ ... ed_Kingdom

"Physicians in the United Kingdom can prescribe medications off-label.
According to the British General Medical Council, off-label
prescriptions must better serve patient needs than alternatives and
must be supported by evidence or experience to demonstrate safety and
efficacy"

Because of my Asperger’s and ADHD I also have atypical drug responses
http://insideperspectives.wordpress.com ... reactions/
I'm Hypersensitivity to antidepressants and antipsychotics and
Hypo-sensitivity to stimulants and opiates and benzodiazepines infact
stimulants make me tired and benzodiazepines and opiates wake me up.

Over the past 10 years I have been on practically every antidepressant
and antipsychotic out there with horrific side effects and withdrawal
(including psychosis for which I was hospitalized).

The only thing the NHS will prescribe me is more antipsychotics, which
I'm not about to start taking. My ex partner said “that she had had
reservations about me stopping the medication [antipsychotic] but
realised that his personality had returned when he did this and
supported his decision.” and I can’t be prescribed classical
antidepressants due to Hypersensitivity and serious side and withdrawal
effects.
Until recently I have been suffering from depression with strong
suicidal thoughts and tendencies.
I have scored myself on the
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamilton_R ... Depression
HAMILTON DEPRESSION RATING SCORE
(17 items)

Score: 29

Evaluation: Scores greater than 28 indicate severe depression.
This patient should be managed by a mental health professional as soon
as possible.

I have been trying to get stimulants such as Adderall XR
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adderall prescribed for my ADHD for years
with no success and Ketamine
http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/251220.php prescribed for my
depression again with no success.
I am currently going through the NHS complaints process to that regard.

Adderall XR is also prescribed off label for treatment resistant
depression.

I suffer from two kinds of depression, the classical life isn’t work
living kind and a separate one related to my anxiety. Ketamine works
like a one hit wonder drug for the anxiety related depression and very
well for the more classical kind.

Recently I have been taking mild amphetamines which I purchased on the
street to treat my ADHD and suicidal depression my HAMILTON DEPRESSION
RATING SCORE is now

HAMILTON DEPRESSION RATING SCORE
(17 items)
.

Score: 5

Evaluation: The score is within the normal range.

I've have also been self medicating with street Ketamine for depression
and thought problems ,often suicidal, for years with great success. I
was using it even before the research came out and told my psychiatrist
and Dr so.

I keep a record of any possible side effects of the amphetamines and
intend to do so the next time I need to take Ketamine. So I believe
that I meet the requirement for “off-label prescriptions must better
serve patient needs than alternatives and must be supported by evidence
or experience to demonstrate safety and efficacy”

Since I’m using the drugs to treat treatment resistant suicidal
depression I believe that my drug use falls under medical necessity
criteria from recent cannabis trials
http://www.idmu.co.uk/oldsite/hol8.htm judge held necessity to apply
where there is "no alternative way to avoid death or serious injury"
and that there is a threat of injury, that is is a serious threat and
that the threat is immediate.

ADHD has also been linked to an increased risk of death from accident
http://www.adhd-made-simple.com/classroom.html
“Studies have shown that children with ADHD who do not receive
treatment run the increased risk of accidental death, injury, sexually
transmitted diseases, substance abuse and criminal activity, along with
causing marital difficulties for their parents”

and suicide

http://books.google.co.uk/books/about/S ... edir_esc=y

“Overall it appears that ADHD increases risk of suicide via increasing
severity of comorbid conditions“
“There is some evidence that treatment of ADHD with methylphenidate in
the long-term, particularly at higher doses, is associated with fewer
suicide attempts and a 3-4 times reduced rate of substance abuse
disorder.”

So my questions are:
What are the best ways to go about getting those medications
prescribed?
What do I do about my immediate situation? I strongly believe that I
fall under medical necessarily especially as the substances I’m taking
are similar or identical to currently prescribed medications and unlike
cannabis are available on prescription. I don’t want to get arrested
and have the medication I need taken off of me and I am prepared to go
to court to defend my case.

Yours sincerely,
Oliver Stieber

Has it ever crossed your mind that taking copious amounts of illegal (yes, illegal, you're talking out of your backside with regards to your justification of your drug habit) could be somehow related to your psychotic illness and mental instability? Speed is the last thing a mentally unstable suicidal person needs.

you assume I'm taking copious amounts.
you assume I have a drug habit
you assume I was taking the drugs at the time I had my psychotic illness
you obviously haven't read the links, amphetamine salts are prescribed off label for the treatment of depression.
I'm no longer mentally unstable or suicidal.

I assume you don't know what your talking about.

(yes, illegal, you're talking out of your backside with regards to your justification of your drug habit)
I'd like to see your evidence to back up your statement.

"Mr McKinnon is accused of serious crimes. But there is also no doubt that he is seriously ill.

He has Asperger's syndrome, and suffers from depressive illness. The legal question before me is now whether the extent of that illness is sufficient to preclude extradition.
After careful consideration of all of the relevant material, I have concluded that Mr McKinnon's extradition would give rise to such a high risk of him ending his life that a decision to extradite would be incompatible with Mr McKinnon's human rights.""After careful consideration of all of the relevant material, I have concluded that Mr McKinnon's extradition would give rise to such a high risk of him ending his life that a decision to extradite would be incompatible with Mr McKinnon's human rights."

Evidence for a rapid onset psychosis (supersensitivity psychosis) following clozapine withdrawal was found and weaker evidence that this might occur with some other antipsychotic drugs. Some cases were reported in people without a psychiatric history. It appears that the psychosis may be a feature of drug withdrawal rather than the re-emergence of an underlying illness, at least in some patients. Meta-analyses of withdrawal studies have suggested that antipsychotic discontinuation may also increase the risk of relapse over and above the risk because of the underlying disorder, but not all individual studies show this effect. Mechanisms may relate to brain adaptations to long-term drug use but data are sparse.

If you experiment with taking combinations of illegal drugs you will mess your brain up - that's a fact.

You are using yourself as a guinea pig and won't be able to undo any permanent damage, not that you'll know when/if it's occurred as you aren't conducting a scientifically-controlled drug trial whereby you have more than one person in the trial and control subjects etc.

Why are posts appearing in a long line?

both the drugs are licensed pharmaceuticals with a long usage history.

pharmaceuticals also mess up your brain - that's also a fact.

I can act as my own control because I don't actually know what the drugs? are and I record and possible side effects daily. When your placed on prescription medication it works the same way, your used as your own control until they find something that works.

If I get a side effect that won't go I can stop using the substance and see if the side effect goes to see if it's attributable to the substance or not..... (This method doesn't always work for some drugs but for the drugs I'm taking and the levels at which I'm taking them it should do as the side effects are already well known)

I'm using the drugs? for purposes for which there have already been experiments involving control groups.

Legal drugs have at least been tested in a proper way and are in my opinion safer than illegal drugs, for the very fact they will have the specified quantity of the drug in them in a standard, tested format. With illegal drugs you don't know what you're taking or at what level of purity.

I'm on an anti-depressant - Efexor/Venlafaxine and it's kept me alive.

There will undoubtedly be long term side effects but I think it's the price I pay for staying alive.

Drug companies will be eager to minimise side effects so they can continue selling their medication. Illegal drug suppliers aren't regulated and just want the money so you are far less protected as they have no reputation to maintain.

In my experience people are split into those who like taking illegal drugs as it's cool etc and those who never would as it's stupid. There's little point trying to reason with an illegal drug taker as they never listen to logic or common sense - it's all about the buzz.

I'd rather live a pedestrian often boring life and stay alive than continually chase the next high and dice with death each time.

I have an addiction to chocolate/sugar which makes it very hard if not impossible for me to lose weight (I'm 12 stone), so I know exactly what craving and addiction is like but mine is at least a legal one and won't kill me in the short term.

I should make it clear that I'm trying to get two well studied drugs widely used in medicine prescribed and am taking both possible legal routes to do so because there are some quality control issues with the versions of those drugs available from the street doctors.

Remind me what these two drugs are again - is it ketamine and speed?

here's what google says about Effexor causing death
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Efexo ... 71&bih=557

I'm in a similar situation about staying alive

I don't know which drug dealers you go to but it's all about reputation and quality of product

not for many, many people are self medicating

you've obviously been relying on the media for your information, death by illegal drugs is a fairly rare occurrence. apart from things like heroin overdose. for instance ecstasy is safer than riding a horse.

I have never heard of anyone dying from taking Efexor but I've heard of plenty of people dying from taking Ecstasy.

Hmm well I remember asking someone to get me some speed once, just to try it (he had access to it) and he said you don't want to take that, it could give you a heart attack. So I've been lucky to only come into contact with people who had concern for my welfare as regards the supply of illegal drugs.

Brand names of medications that contain, or metabolize into, amphetamine, include Adderall, Dexedrine, Dextrostat, Desoxyn,[2] Didrex, ProCentra, and Vyvanse, as well as Benzedrine or Psychedrine in the past.

The drug is also used recreationally and as a performance enhancer.
Important side effects of therapeutic amphetamine include stunted growth in young people and occasionally a psychosis can occur at therapeutic doses during chronic therapy as a treatment emergent side effect.[3] When abused at high doses the risk of experiencing side effects and their severity increases.

and with chronic and/or high doses, seizure, stroke, coma, heart attack and death can occur.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amphetamine

I don't take a high dose, I don't take it to get high. I take a therapeutic dose.
