Well I would agree with what someone said on the first page, you're not supposed to muscle things in jiu jitsu anyways, you're supposed to use leverage and timing against your opponent. I personally love jiu jitsu. I'm never more calm than when I'm grappling someone, I even prefer to be on the bottom so they have a false sense of security before I choke them or sweep them onto their back.

I'm pretty weak, but I have mild ataxic cerebral palsy, too.

I guess if one of your special interests is martial arts ( like me) and you work at it nearly every day with extreme diligence, then you may actually be stronger than many of your NT peers. However, I find that most aspies are not that interested in doing things that are overly physical in nature, so many of them are in fact weaker than the majority of the population.

I do ten normal press-ups once every three days. That's about all I can manage due to a neck injury that left me very cautious. I also do chair dips and love my chin-up bar.

I always thought I was a weak, pathetic kind of person due to being such a failure at sports at school, but to my surprise when I started doing resistence training I gained muscle in my upper body quickly. I don't mean very bulky muscle (I'm a girl) but I definitely have the ability to be strong. I gained several inches on my lats. Also, for some reason even when I was still a teenager and lived at home I was the star jar opener in the family. If my parents or siblings could not open a jar, I would be able to do it for them. I must have stronger hands than them. But I still feel weak in comparison to most men. I can open jars the average weakling cannot, but there are still plenty of jars I am unable to open and need a great strong man to do it for me instead.

My muscle tones are not bad, however I can't use them fully due to weak, hyperflexible joints that I inherited from my dad. I'm too floppy to lift heavy stuff or push hard on things.

Not all aspies have all the typical problems. My fine motor skill is great and I enjoy art, calligraphy and needlework.

Flexibility is actually underrated and highly related to strength and power. Baseball pitchers with more flexible shoulders tend to pitch faster. Probably due to stronger fiber connection in tendons and ligaments.

After reading through the replies it seems to be a matter of interest. Those who are interested in athletics and martial arts can use their hyper-focus to excel in these categories.

What helped me was studying human anatomy and physiology, on top of martial arts technique. At around 130 lbs I was deadlifting 230 lbs right off the floor and squatting around 190 lbs. And when it comes to karate i'm at a high level compared to most "street fighters". When it comes to grappling, I started late so the learning curve has been against me but my ability to use logic and visual spatial reasoning, I learned very quick and got to about a purple belt level of proficiency very quickly. I picture the different grips and levers to a great extent as well as study positioning by watching live matches. Somehow I can picture myself from the outside and command muscles internally to link the different chained muscle groups into action - AKA ret*d strength.
