My understanding was that skin picking perceived imperfections is more on the OCD spectrum than a stim. Personally I've never picked at anything I perceived to be an imperfection and I've been a skin picker as long as I can remember; I just love the sensation of picking.

I have always popped pimples and I would pick at scabs and other things. I always had a hard time not doing it. I don't pick as scabs anymore because I don't like to leave scars. My chest is covered in scars from pimples and I would keep picking at them. I just use wash my chest now and back when I shower to avoid pimples. I also enjoy popping other peoples pimples and I do it to my husband. he said it's one of my stims. But yet I don't do it do strangers and to other people.

I also would put band aids over my scabs to keep me from picking at them.
